**UPDATE (to Managements response): The shower liner required a change after our stay, as I physically removed it myself due to the pungent smell. Glad to know your top notch housekeeping placed a new liner in shower, after our departure; as they did not catch the filth when preparing the room before our arrival. Also, Im sorry to have to tell you that: A short search on google will show, IN FACT, there ARE swimming related illnesses due to dirty pool conditions. *ORIGINAL REVIEW: DO NOT SWIM IN POOL/HOT TUB Dirty pool got our whole family sick.. also, The shower liner wreaked of must and filth.. caused our whole room to smell horrible. GROSS. At a glance, this hotel looks clean however, once you look closer you will find it is NOT.

We got there for check in really late at night as we were checking in for our honeymoon and the wedding ended at 9pm. We got to our original room and the lock would not slide all the way over to lock the door so we called the front desk and the very nice gentleman working that evening requested we come back down to the lobby and he would be happy to switch us to a different room as maintenance is not there that late. (Wouldnt expect them to be so was very happy with how this was handled) He made the switch and we went back up to our new room. The lock worked perfectly in the new one. Both the rooms were very clean. Ive stayed at holiday inn hotels before and breakfast was always complimentary so that was a bit of a disappointment but I should have paid closer attention to the fact that it wasnt listed as an amenity. I was even more disappointed with the fact that 1 of the three pancakes was just shy of burnt and another was completely black on the bottom and just slipped between the other two to try and hide it. But you could smell it as soon as the container was opened and it definitely tasted as burnt as it looked and smelled. You would think since the pancakes were $8 the quality control would be better. The service staff was great during all of our interactions with the exception of one woman who looked at us very rudely and looked irritated that we asked her to replace a room key because it wouldnt work to open our room. The room keys not working happened twice on different occasions and one of the times was because they made a new key when one stopped working instead of making a duplicate so it made the other key stop working. Rooms: The rooms were very clean, make sure to check your locks as the first room we stayed in the deadbolt wouldnt slide over. It was set a little too high to slide into the deadbolt hole. Nearby activities: We did quite a bit during our 4 night stay. Its about 10 minutes from the Dr Pepper museum, Waco escape rooms, Union Hall, and almost 15 minutes from Cameron Park Zoo. There is a Cajun place called Cajun Crabs and Shrimp less than a mile from the hotel that has amazing food! We got two pounds of snow crab for about $64 and their diablos appetizer was amazing! Food & drinks: The pancakes were burnt and pretty expensive for the quality.

A J, Thank you for staying at the Holiday Inn in Waco, and thank you for leaving feedback. A good amount of people don't take the time to do so.Sometimes the amount of people using the pool causes it to get cloudy. Especially when someone puts food or other stuff in the pool. Our pool is professionally serviced. A pool cannot get you sick. I am sorry to have to tell you that. I checked the room you was in, and the shower curtain did not see dirty. Maybe it was changed between when you stayed and today. It is rare that people complain about the cleanliness of our hotel because the housekeeping staff is top notch. I am sorry you had a bad experience at my hotel. It is not very common at this hotel. We wish you safe travels. Duane- General Manager
