Not surprised at all this place closed. I am very forgiving but the service and manager on location were so horrible the last time I went I refused to go back. Also the food was very hit or miss, mostly miss which is not acceptable when you are charging high end steakhouse prices for steak that may or may not be good and at least double the price than anywhere else in salt lake for the sushi that probably wasnt good. Yes they got good quality fish, but high end sushi is way more than just good quality fish. Its like they decided to just hire a few people who didnt know what they were doing, didnt know how to cut the fish right or make the rice right and hoped the fish quality would shine. Well it didnt, and as anyone who has eaten at a high end omakase place knows there is far more than just fish quality, the knife skills, fish knowledge, aging the fish, preparing the fish, adding the right sauce, having perfect rice etc is necessary to command top dollar for sushi and they had none of it. Ultimately I knew after 1 or 2 visits they wouldnt make it past 1 or 2 years, the service was always bad, punctuated by the worst service I've had in years at my last visit, the drinks that actually showed up were bad, and other than a few pieces of sushi and one appetizer that were good, all the food was bad Big

We loved our time at Aqua Terra for our anniversary. The atmosphere was private, contemporary, luxurious, and romantic with dim mood lighting. The staff were accommodating to our early check-in, and they were attentive, helpful, and respectful. The food was beautiful, deliberate, and fresh. Our favorite was the crispy rice salmon belly, with its texture and flavor; we wished that we had ordered more like this. The steak sandwich was as you might expect, but the fresh steak and delicious flavor really pleased. My filet mignon was very tender and was cooked to my liking. The garlic it comes with is intended to boost the filets flavor. Overall, I've enjoyed better filet mignon elsewhere and wish I had tried another dish. We ordered a side of asparagus with hollandaise, which was a tad undercooked, and I make better at home sauted in butter. My drink order was the ginger hibiscus, which packed quite the punch! I loved it, but my wife doesn't like ginger. We received a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was a "Sweet Tree" of cinnamon bites and 4 dipping sauces. The bites were very fresh and delicious, and our favorite dip was the delicious raspberry. We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon dinner at Aqua Terra and would love to go back for another special night.
