Tasteful rooms and environmentally friendly, no plastic .... They even had a real tea set in the room. Loved it.

Bugs in the bed are not comforting to find. In the age of bed bugs and German roaches from hotels (as youve probably seen in the news recently), its important to check the mattress before bringing your bags in while doing so, the bug in the picture was discovered. It ran further into the fitted sheet when disturbed. Bugs tucking themselves into the sheets is an even less comforting thing to see, and could indicate more hidden beneath the sheet. The invasive species are known to hide then come out at night. The innkeeper said it was a boxelder beetle. Didnt stick around long enough to check personally and staff was out for the day. Other reviews with bugs said they had those, but this one wasnt orange or red and there was only one instead of 20+, so I cant be certain. With bed bugs and German roaches hitching a ride home on clothing and baggage, then becoming months long infestations, why risk it? They charged half a nights price for 15 minutes. I understand this: Bristol Suites is a business above all else, and protecting their revenue comes first. The owners seem like lovely people and I dont fault them for wanting to hang onto the money, but I thought it was worth mentioning for anyone who is considering staying here. Out of nearly 80 hotel nights in 2023 alone, Ive only had to leave without staying the night once in my life (a couple years ago) and that hotel gave me a full refund, but some really bad hotels will give nothing so Im not upset. I appreciate Mark for being the liaison between us and the owners who werent in! I wanted to be clear that there are no hard feelings. The innkeeper offered to come remove the bug, which would have required him to come in after hours, and I respect that. The owners really do seem kind. The hotel is otherwise cute and I genuinely hate to leave bad feedback for a place like this. I almost never do this you can check my profile and find glowing reviews about hotels from several states or countries. I remember names of stellar staff and make sure to leave positive feedback. Bugs in beds are uncommon though, and for me personally that makes this place a one star (though Ill give extra for the partial refund). If youre not bug adverse you wont be as put off. Rooms: A little dark but otherwise cute. The darkness was unsettling with bugs, but would have been alright otherwise. Noteworthy details: If not for the bug, it would have been much better.
