Martin & Susan were fantastic hosts! Susan's cooking is delicious and varied, a great mixture of freshly baked items (those coffee cakes!) and everyone's favorites -- eggs to order, bacon, sausage, French toast, etc. Coffee was ready at 6:30am on the nose as promised. House is warm and beautiful, meticulously maintained and decorated. Very cozy beds and common area with TV and comfy furniture. Dog friendly. If we find ourselves looking for accommodations in the St Johnsbury area again we will definitely stay at Cherry House!

My husband and I spent two nights at the Robins Nest Suite which had a private bath. It was a wonderful weekend. Susan and Martin had our room ready when we arrived, and we were greeted upon arrival. The room was cozy and the Eastman Cottage gave us an opportunity to enjoy a common area with a view of the town and access to the kitchen. The breakfasts were fantastic and there was a buffet, coffee, tea, and a hot breakfast cooked to order. The Cherrys are a delightful couple and were such a pleasure to talk with and helped us to find the school my parents went to many years ago. My husband and I enjoyed our conversations over breakfast and getting to know this sweet and personable couple. If you are looking for a quaint and relaxing weekend in a town rich with history then I recommend the Cherry House Bed and Breakfast in St. Johnsbury Vermont. You will leave having made new friends. Lord willing we make another visit there.

Very old fashioned. Heating controls the whole house, so if person staying in one part wants cooler/hotter than person in other part of the house not good. Breakfast cold buffet good, fried breakfast poor. Definitely not worth $200 a night

We booked the 'Robin's Nest' because it had its own ensuite bathroom. It's a clean comfortable, downstairs room in the annex behind the main house. The bedroom has two large windows making one big airy corner window. With the elevated position and tree branches outside I could imagine the room feeling like a nest when the trees are in leaf. I had a small issue with the curtains in the bedroom because they are too skimpy. They are completely flat when closed and there isn't enough width of material to completely cover the windows. If you got them to meet in the middle there was gaps at the sides, if you adjusted them for the sides, the middle gaped. This meant that, even with the blinds down, outside lights shone into the room, keeping me awake. This could be easily rectified by adding extra material to the curtains. On arrival, as we were shown into the building, my first impression wasn't great. The first thing I noticed was the smell and a row of dolls sitting on the far side of the lounge (these should be somewhere else, like the owners personal space or in a toy box) The unpleasant smell was that of an old dusty vicarage and old historical house smell. This was coming from the old furniture and rug in the lounge. A professional cleaning and reupholstering, as you could see some ingrained grubbiness on the once nice but now drab fabric, along with the addition of some throw cushions in more colourful traditional fabrics on the sofa, might cure the neglected air. Whilst I appreciate the aim was to create the feel of a homely traditional home, it fell quite short of the mark. Aside from our room, the rest of the downstairs area felt very unloved and unlived in. Especially when compared to the atmosphere and genuine homeliness of the main house. The annex dining room is particularly stark and dark. A lighter, brighter coloured tablecloth and a couple of vases of silk flowers, or nice crockery on the dresser, would have made a huge improvement. In the lounge the fireplace area was nicely staged to create the traditional look (aside from those dolls and unnecessary spare dining chairs lined up) However, the TV was tucked into a corner away from this seating area. If we could have got the tv to work, we would have had to rearrange some furniture just to be able to watch it. It fell like the TV was just a token addition. It should have been wall mounted in the obvious position above the fireplace, or totally removed. Over all, we were disappointed, with the general air of the neglect. As a result, we felt the room was over priced. This annex could be a fabulous place if it got the attention it needs to fully refurbish it and create a fresher, but still traditional, homeliness. Perhaps the next phase of refurbishment will address these issues. Rooms: Our room was clean and comfortable, but over priced, given the rest of annex.

The location would have been fine if it hadn't been Halloween evening. The hosts were very helpful, the room was great and I was able to get a great nights sleep. I woke up to a wonderful breakfast !! I highly recommend staying here. Noteworthy details: Beautiful Older home, it makes you feel like you are at Grandma's house !!

We are sorry you did not have the stay you were hoping to have. Our priority is always with the guests, and we keep our costs down so that travelers are able to stay here. Breakfasts are always a highlight, and have been enjoyed by our guests. If ever you find it is not what you are hoping to have, we are glad to make it right. Our home is 1901, and not your average look. We have antiques that come from our families, and we are happy with the way we have designed it to look and reflect the era of the home. We hope you are able to come back and give us another look.

Thank you for the detailed experience and the pictures. As you noted, we are not going for the average "look" that you see in all the social media. We have collected a few things that we treasure, and focus mostly on the interpersonal relationships that we build with our guests. Our time is mostly spent sharing favorite places to see in the area, and helping guests find their way to meet their needs. If you had asked, I certainly would have directed you to the additional shades that also cover the windows. We have turned a barn into a guest space, and it may still need some fine tuning. In all, our guests are very pleased with the unique features and individual attention. Please return and give us another look.

Thank you, Dave. We were glad you were able to navigate all the ghosts and gobblins lining Main Street.
