Best years of my life (class 1965), many longtime friends and memories. My favorite event was "Man and his world,". A unique experience that helped young minds get advanced lessons from guest professors from the very best colleges (Harvard, Yale, UVM, Colgate, Princeton, Cornell, UNH and more). I miss VA a lot and hope all is well there. (note...my first year in college was like an extension of my time at VA.) In any event your children will benefit and be prepared to grow into our lives today. With weekends skiing at Bromley, Snow Mountain, Stratton etc made great events to look forward to. We had a fun winter carnival and braving the ski jump were just a few things that I still miss.

Unsafe environment. Bullying is rampant. Extremely high turnover in staff where respected teachers leave very soon. The administration is known for excessively harsh punishments over minor infractions, while tolerating destructive and harmful behavior from other students. My friend, who has worked in school administration for over 30 years, told me he had never seen anything more unprofessional than VA's current administration. In fact, many of the recent 5 star reviews were left by active members of the schools administration.

I attended VA from 2021-2023 and they were some of the best years of my life. The dorms can be a bit grungy at first glance, but youd be hard pressed to find a school where that isnt the case. The teachers and administrators are fantastic and went far and above for us on a regular basis. Honestly the best part of my experience had to be the time I spent on various different teams and learning new sports. When I arrived at VA I only played one sport, but by the time I left I had learned to play 3 more! If youre on the fence, I can assure you that attending VA is worth while and it will set you up perfectly for college! (I am currently attending Vassar)

My two children have thrived at VA! The small, welcoming community proved the perfect restorative experience after a year of online learning at our previous school. My type-A high stats academics, multi-sport athlete is thrilled with her classroom experience, college counseling and sports experiences. My actor, writer, filmmaker kid loves Wilderness Exploration, snowboarding, and rock-climbing. Both kids have jumped right into theater through the 24 hour play festival and a student run musical production. My kids are outdoors year-round, making the most of the beautiful campus. Faculty are accessible, committed, and supportive.
