        We usually stay at chain hotels, but booked this place out of the blue for a weekend away. Let me tell you, this has got to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. All the amenities of bigger hotels, with a personal touch. Welcome baskets in the room, what?? The room was absolutely beautiful, clean and the owner and staff were super friendly. Can't wait to stay here again! Rooms: Beautiful!

        Lisa the owner was very friendly. Rooms were exceptionally clean and very quiet. Price was great too! Gotta love Vermont Rooms: Rooms were very clean and cozy.

        To be fair, all motels in this area are expensive. This one is conveniently located near the lake and has some nice amenities, like the fridge and good A/C. However, the shower didn't drain at all, and the bed linens were very thin.

      Beautifully located in the Village of Shaftsbury, in Southwestern Vermont’s expansive Green Mountain region. Our motel offers a serene and quiet rural setting with impressive mountain views. The Governor’s Rock Motel was built on land originally owned by Vermont’s former Governor Jonas Galusha-a farmer, innkeeper, and Revolutionary war hero. Conveniently located on Historic Route 7A which links Bennington and Manchester-the area also known as the Shires of Vermont. This route offers access to a variety of historic and cultural sites as well as easy access to outdoor activities, shopping, and food.”
