Holiday Inn Express & Suites White River Junction, an IHG Hotel

I was very disappointed in my stay here. There was no housekeeping during my whole 6 night stay. The room was at a miserable 88 degrees despite having it set to cool, the only thing that helped was opening the balcony door. Breakfast was not worth the trip downstairs and the "pancake maker" didn't work. One of the front desk employees was rude. And the sink would not drain. The only good thing that I could appreciate was the underground parking lot and clean bedding (the bathroom was not very well cleaned though).

The pros - All of the staff was friendly and welcoming - The continental breakfast was delicious and they has staff readily available to fix issues and restock. - Our room on the 4th floor was huge, probably the biggest hotel room I've ever had. The cons - Our room was 80 degrees when we came in, and while the thermostat said it was cooling down, no cold air was coming through the vents. We had to open the windows all night to cool the room down. - There was very little water pressure in the shower, and it regularly switched from hot to cold and back. - The hallways, and part of the rooms, are showing their age and starting to fall apart. We were on a road trip and stayed at a number of Holiday Inns over the last 8 days. This hotel was showing its age compared to what I am used to.

It was a shocker for me that this could happened at IHG branded hotel. Here is my experience summary for March 23, 2024 night stay: 1. Was not greeted as a Rewards Platinum member 2. When I asked for the upgrade - was lied that no rooms are available. Completely booked I was told - which was not the case. Please continue to read 3. The room assigned (4th floor) was not clean after previous stay. So I tried to call the lobby - no one picked up the phone. I went downstairs and reported on the room assign failure. 4. Was assigned new room (3rd floor, 363) - and guess what - the room was not ready as well. Moreover, when we were in the room door opened and the customer, who actually lived there appeared and asked what's going on there. What an embarrassment! 5. I expressed my frustration to the Front desk and send the staff to verify that the final room is ready for us. Got a room assigned. 6. The room assigned didn't have the bedsheets for a sleeper sofa. I had to make another trip to the front desk. 7. Hand sanitizer is empty on the 1st floor 8. Breakfast turkey patties were not good at all. Bananas were green. This is a miserable experience. I couldn't expect this from IHG Group. I stayed with IHG/ Holiday Inn Express on the regular basis and compared to any other Holiday Inn Express locations (Mt Ascutney, Lincoln NH, South Burlington, South Plainfield-Piscataway, La Jolla CA) this place is an absolute disaster. Would never come back here and do not recommend anyone to stay here.
