Seichou Karate Dojo

My family and I are so grateful we found and joined Seichou Karate Dojo. The programs offered by Shihan Romero and his teaching staff are extensive and rigorous, but also approachable even for those new to this kind of exercise and self improvement. I emphasize self improvement because that is exactly what my 12 year old son has achieved through training with Seichou. My boy has some physical challenges and developmental delays as a result of his acute pre-term birth. But he has flourished with Seichou and he has found balance and the ability to move his body more purposefully, with control and power since we began karate 4 years ago. Shihan Romero really cares about all his students and I could go on and on about his leadership, but I'll just underline that he is currently offering more than 50 hours of live online karate during the Covid crisis. Wonderful, clean, safe studio. My 7 year old has taken karate there since last July. He has grown in confidence and coordination. He went because he wanted to go to ninja school, but we kept him there because of all that he gained in body awareness, where his hands and feet were, what they doing and when, balance, all round proprioceptive awareness. The instructors are strict but appropriate. Parents can observe every class. We are extremely grateful to have a professional studio in the Ft. Hunt area and not have to drive to Arlington/DC.

Wonderful dojo! My son has developed so much mentally and physically in three+ years with Seichou. The discipline taught by Shihan Romero and Sempai Gautherin is a lifelong skill. Belt promotion tests are offered twice a year, and the instructors do an amazing job of presenting curriculum in class to help ensure students are prepared. For parents juggling multiple children and/or multiple afterschool activities, Seichou Karate provides great flexibility for class attendance, with classes available six days a week between two locations, Old Town and Hollin Hall.

My 10yo has been taking classes here since Jan 2018. We love the environment, the expectation of excellence, the patience, and the accountability. The facilities are great and the leadership works hard to bring out the best in each student. This is our first foray into martial arts and we are so pleased to have found this dojo!
