I've had insurance with Erie for my homes and cars for nearly 40 years.  My agency has been bought and sold and now, when I call Preferred Insurance, it's like contacting the Social Security Administration.  I've gone to them for insurance three times in the last five years, for my motorcycle and for two different rental properties, which are both in premier neighborhoods.  They wouldn't insure the properties because I didn't have a "management company" (I'm retired and manage the properties).  I went to Steve Douglass of ALLSTATE in Leesburg, and they WELCOMED MY BUSINESS.  Preferred Insurance tried to charge me $900/ann for my motorcycle through Progressive.  When I called Progressive myself, the same coverage was $500!  Today, when I called, someone told me, "Oh...I'm going out of town this weekend!  I'll have to let you talk to someone else!!"  Thanks guys.  I'm in "Good Hands" with ALLSTATE now!

My family received a letter from Rich Insurance stating we had 3 at fault accidents and may be dropped if we had another claim. First off the letter was incorrect. Only 2 of the accidents were at fault and the claims for those 2 accidents combined came in under 1500 dollars. Mr. Rich did acknowledge the mistake however while my wife spoke to Mr. Rich in reference to this letter. Not only was he rude and condescending but he said we were to active with our policy. He cited the 2 a fore mentioned accidents then went on to point out a windshield repair from 2002. He acted as if this was excessive or that it showed we were poor drivers. Considering I have been an Erie customer for 18 years using both auto and home owners policies amounting to just over 25K in payments. That is 25000 dollars I have paid Erie over the years and they threaten to drop me for less than 2000 dollars in claims. That combined with Mr. Rich's demeanor and lack of professionalism encouraged us to seek coverage elsewhere. On the bright side when a claim was made the adjusters that came to the house were courteous and helpful. They were both knowledgeable and professional unlike Mr. Rich.
