I have been with Midlothian Kids' Academy for over a year. Regarding our behavior we use redirection in our center instead of punishing our kids. We have bleach bottles for our bathrooms that required for us to have to keep our kids safe from germs. We clean our bathrooms throughout the day. The director here is amazing and always call you to her office to check on you to make sure you are ok or to see if you need help with anything. License requires us to have the door open when the teachers are in the bathroom with that kid.

If you care about the safety of your child, then do not send them to this Daycare. We recently moved to Chesterfield and called around to find a daycare that had pre-K available, and after speaking with Erica and telling her that my toddler has an adjustment disorder and takes a good month to get settled in. She assured me that they had teachers and staff that were properly trained to deal with any type of behavior issues that they would be happy to take her. This past Monday, my child came home and said that the assistant pre-K teacher, Ashley pushed My child legs onto her cot to make her go to sleep. The teacher told me that she saw it. The teacher and I brought it to the directors attention and the Director told me that she would watch the video and show it to me later that day. While I was at work, the Daycare wrote up 10 incident reports on my child for a behavior issues yet over the past month she had two minor incident reports. At about 530 the Director emailed me from home saying that they were dismissing my family from the daycare because of my childs behavior issues I had already suspected that there was some type of abuse or something was going on at that daycare that they were trying to hide from because it is very odd that a parent complains about a teacher touching their child inappropriately yet the school dismisses the child . I called the teacher about the incident reports and the teacher told me that Ashley had her iPad and the director told her to write up all these reports. Then the teacher changed her story and said that she had Ashley write them in because shes half blind. My husband and I went to talk to the Director and I left out of there very upset. I have never in my life had a Director from a daycare talk to me so inappropriately the Director showed me a video of the teacher doing exactly what my child said that she did to her And the Director said that it is because my child is a problem child on why this happened. The director withheld the videos of my child hurting other children and would not show me the incidents on the video that they reported. I am sharing this for the safety of other families.

We came to MKA after having a terrible experience at another daycare a couple years ago. MKA teachers have been professional and are always interacting with all of the children in the classroom. They have live feed cameras that I check often while my daughter is there. I see them doing morning circle time, centers, arts & crafts, reading, etc. They do special activities throughout the year: holiday parties, spirit days (pj day, funny hat day, etc), pumpkin patch where each kid was able to bring home a pumpkin. During the summers they have their own splash pad and bring in outside resources to increase special activities for the younger children (fun bus, musicians, stretch and grow, etc), older children have field trips. When my daughter was having some behavioral issues in the younger classroom the teachers were always willing to work with us as parents to work on correcting these negative behaviors. The facility itself always appears to be clean; once I noticed when making my daughter go to the restroom before leaving for the day, that one of the bathrooms were dirty and I mentioned it to one of the teachers in the classroom and they immediately went in and cleaned the bathroom. Overall we have had a great experience with all of the staff and have enjoyed the curriculum we observe the children engaging in while at daycare.

I have worked for Midlothian Kids Academy for over 2 years, my children have been here for as long as I have. They absolutely love it here. They love their teachers. The center is clean, the teachers bleach the tables, toys, bathrooms after use. We have a cleaning crew that come in several days a week to do a deep clean. We have a Zono machine that sanitizes our childrens toys daily. Behaviors; When we see behaviors with our children we dont threaten or give time out, we give positive redirection and it helps a lot. All our teachers are CPR certified and is given training every month to be the best they can be within our classrooms for our children and to help them grow. A lot of our teachers have their CDA and have been a teacher for over 30 years. Every teacher looks out for one another and we help assist each other when they need it. Our director is a great director and an amazing person to talk to when there is a problem. She is tough and fair and expects you to do your job that she requires you to do. We want the best for our children and MKA does that amazingly.
