The Cool School

We've been taking lessons from Robyne for several years now, and would happily give her 10 stars if we could! She has taught guitar and voice lessons to my son, and we both study martial arts with her. She has so many unique and interesting talents, including being a double black belt! One of the many things we love about Robyne is her ability to see the best in everyone she works with, and to genuinely care about and connect with students of all ages and abilities. She tailors her instruction to exactly what each person wants and needs, and I've never known anyone with the ability to provide such epically positive feedback, motivating each of us continuously improve. Robyne is also one of the warmest, kindest, and most enthusiastic people we have ever met. She always has a smile on her face, and we always leave our lessons feeling happy, energized, and amazing. We recommend her wholeheartedly!

Robyne at the Cool School is a fantastic, fun, effective teacher. Robyne is a fantastic Acting / Drama Coach. She has two black belts and teaches martial arts. Robyne even teaches singing, and guitar. Robyne has been teaching my son for about 8 years, now. He started off with his brother doing tap dancing with her. Then he got into some martial arts. A few years after starting he really got into acting improv, which I think he has been doing for 5 years. Additionally, seeing how incredible acting improv had been for him, two years ago, our whole family started doing acting improv once per week with him. It's hard to keep up with him, but it's an incredible family bonding experience. Now, he's also doing voice-over acting (like for cartoons, etc) weekly, too. He's developed some awesome accents, and character types. His improv acting really flows with these different characters coming out. The thing is, he has Asperger's. These acting classes from Robyne, week after week have had a tremendous impact on his ability to operate socially. She used to take him right to playgrounds, where he'd practice what he'd learned in a live social context. Now, he's such a hilarious guy, and brings his family, and the kids at his high school: The joy of laughter. Robyne is an incredible, empathic super-teacher. A miracle worker. If you can find an opening in her schedule, I can guarantee, you will be very happy with the results. Especially if you stick with it year in and year out. The results start really stacking up after a while. Robyne has been critical to our family's forward motion. --Ned :)

Robyne has been teaching my now 10 year old daughter for close to 4 years at the Cool School in Bellevue before my daughter's drum lessons with Ned. My daughter has severe ADHD and we noticed that she worked harder in drum lessons when she got some exercise or movement before the lesson. So Ned suggested that she work with Robyne to get out some of her energy before drum lessons. At first, we tried Karate lessons with Robyne. Robyne was incredibly patient, but it was clear that my daughter wasn't interested in martial arts. I was ready to give up, but Robyne is very patient and tried teaching yoga instead. The yoga lessons were great for a while. But eventually, my daughter got tired of that too. So I thought that would be the end of lessons with Robyne. But then Robyne started teaching Improv to her. It's been over 4 years and she's still drumming and still loving her improv lessons. It's amazing to watch how creative and funny those 2 are together. I had to search pretty hard for a picture of the lessons because I am usually laughing so hard, I don't have time to take pictures. When family or friends visit from out of town, we bring them with us to Improv and drum lessons for a little show. We also have watched Robyne teaching singing, tumbling, karate, and ballet to other students. She has so many talents! But most of all, she is just about the nicest and most patient person we've ever met. Robyne can instruct so many different skills to all ages and abilities. I'm considering asking her to teach me to play guitar.
