Cosley Guitar Lessons

I actually came here by accident. I thought I was going to another guitar instructor who's studio is nearby. Well let me tell you Dan is excellent teacher, his rates are fair and he's very flexible with scheduling (as long as you communicate with him). He offers the first couple of lessons for 50% off too which is great if you want to check out his teaching style before committing to his full rate. Dan's a professionally trained multi instrumentalist and has lived and studied in Japan. He has a great understanding and interest in a wide variety of music styles and genres. He's a great person too and is someone I consider a friend. Our conversations always seem to run over after class as I'm the last lesson for that day. I've learned so much in the last 6 months or so I've been taking lessons that it would be impossible to list here. A normal lesson for me is a bit of music reading/theory, then he'll teach some finger and hand exercises that I can practice more at home and then we wrap it up by going over a song or two that I want to learn. I'm very satisfied.

I never played an instrument nor knew how to read music before meeting Dan. Learning to play the acoustic guitar was a sort of "bucket list" venture for me and Dan ended up being the perfect person for my instructor. He is patient, knowledgeable, and very comfortable to be around--all important characteristics when it is easy for a person to get discouraged or intimidated in trying something new as I was. He always kept things interesting by mixing up the sources of inspiration for each lesson...we never just stuck to 1 lesson book. He was always encouraging and took genuine delight in seeing me improve. Due to personal reasons, I had to discontinue lessons with Dan after about 8 months. But I know that when I am ready to continue, Dan will be the first instructor I call.
