So grateful for SMC! Kumon, private Tutors etc.. in the past was a struggle but the program here really helped push my daughter ahead and the wholesome team (Biri) was so great with my daughter she was enjoying methods and material she used to find daunting and frustrating. Thank you!

My son has been going to Singapore Math Club for most of Grade 1 content, some Grade 2, and half of Grade 3. Were stopping halfway through Grade 3 because I believe he wasn't absorbing the content as he should be and I lack the time to get him to understand using the online contents. There are two main parts of Singapore Math Club, the Classwork and Homework. The classwork aspect is what the teachers go through during the hour-long session. The content of the 3rd grade classwork, when I looked at it, is impressive especially for a third grader. The Golden Key/Box concept thats being taught, is basically a weird form of algebra for elementary students. When I read the classwork question, and got through the answer, I was like, wow, youre learning amazing things! One day, on a particularly harder homework problem, my son was struggling and started scribbling down things that wouldnt even begin to solve the problem. I asked him, you did this in the classwork, right? He shrugged and said, I dont remember. I went back to the classwork, and asked him, can you step through this classwork for me? He pointed at the various parts of the questions that corresponded with the various parts of the answer, and then at the answer. I erased the page, made a copy, so theres no signs of pencil marks, and asked, can you step through it again? He didnt know where to begin. Singapore Math Club, is not one-on-one math tutoring. Its still didactic lectures with checks and feedback on the work being done like school! Theres not a lot of time spent on tutoring the math to the specific child. I think SMC would cost a lot more than they are charging, if it's one on one tutoring. SMC is a good afterschool activity for your child -- so you get more time to shop, to run errands, to finish work, etc. If you do expect a lot out of SMC for your child and wanting your child to turn into a math wiz, you would need to use their expansive online content to get your child to understand. Its likely my son will return to SMC sometime in the future when his cognitive development catches up a bit more. One last note, if you disenroll your child after paying for a term (even within 24 hours of paying), they wont give you back full money refund (10% deduction). Theres an option to keep the full amount as credit toward future enrollments.
