What great fun reading the reviews for the wonderful Pane dAmore bakery in Port Townsend. Imagine fresh, chewy crust, perfectly baked; makes you feel on top of the world, strolling down the street, tearing pieces, hand to mouth, a grin across your face like an upside-down rainbow. Seems some people have too much time, havent discovered gratitude and dont really know how good they have it. I just read complaints about the price, a complaint about the customer service at the farmers market 30 miles away and a complaint that a loaf of beautifully baked bread is less worthy because it is now 2 shorter than it was in the 1960s? We come from a midsize town, Flagstaff, AZ that does not have a single artesian bread maker. So today, to stumble upon dAmores Kalamata loaf and Sourdough baguette, well great golly, this will be one of those unexpected high points of our trip (dont tell anyone we are tourists.) Another review complains that the cost is so high that only a tourist would be able to afford. Well, if that is the case, then I recommend any tourist reading this jump in their private jet or yacht because that is what all tourists own these days and head over to this bread shop to partake. For anyone not willing to part with their hard-earned cash then Safeway is close by and has something like bread for just a couple of bucks. In all seriousness, whomever runs dAmore, cares deeply about bread and I believe cares just as much about community. They make GREAT bread. Should be proud of that, because it is not easy to do- head high! Bake-on!

Been getting chocolate croissants here for years, but the last 6 months or so they keep shrinking in size and the baked goods have been getting darker and darkerlike crispy and dry. I dont know what changed but
