I was a patient of Olympic Smilecare in Port Townsend for 5 years until recently moving. Overall, I had an excellent experience. Very reasonable and practical dentist (Dr. Despain), thorough cleanings, and caring staff. Highly recommend.

Olympic SmileCare always surpasses my expectations. Yesterday, for example, the three ladies who ran the practice (Stephanie- the manager, Sarah- the receptionist, and Katie- the hygienist) were not only knowledgeable and professional, but very kind and sensitive to my dental needs. Highest recommendations for a dental practice that has not lost sight of the individual patient. Whenever I've needed them, I have felt very lucky to be in such capable hands. Bravo!

My experience here was fine until it wasnt. One particularly brutal appointment required a ton of experimenting to find an anesthesia combination that worked for me, which was never successful. For whatever reason, everything was painful and I was feeling anxious and traumatized by the ordeal. I was clearly upset (but always kind) and the practitioner only said things like just stop thinking about it, girlie! and repeatedly told me to get out of my head, as if I was the one at fault for the pain. Wow, by calling me girlie they managed to both infantilize and misgender me. Repeatedly. Also, telling someone who is having anxiety to just get over it so wildly unhelpful. Telling someone who is experience a heightened sense of pain (also a common product of anxiety) to cut it out is just ignorant and insensitive. How are you in this line of work but are SO unaware of how to pay your patients respect?? I came out of the appointment crying and the front desk person fetched me a tissue while I was paying my bill. While they were booking my next appointment, I asked if we could do it later because I was having a hard time, quietly crying behind my mask, and needed to leave. They said of course. Ive never heard another peep from them. Not to book the next appointment nor to check on how their very sad and pain-adled patient was doing. Im surprised at how little care I felt. After 15 years of this dental saga Ive been on, this is by far the worst experience Ive had. Im so lucky to have found a trauma-informed dentist now - or maybe its just that they show basic human kindnesses like compassion and respect.

Best Dentist around. I used to have a skeptical fear of Dentist/Dental work but I'm a believer in the practices of Olympic SmileCare and had the easiest filling of my life here. Would definitely recommend!
