Always top notch vet services. Very friendly and welcoming. Everyone loves our puppy and even our moody cat when she comes in for a nail trim. Highly recommend.

I cannot thank Dr. Black enough for the care and honesty he did for me and Chuck. He was upfront with me about Chuck condition and did not pressure me into making any quick decisions. Unfortunately Chuck needed to be put down, but Dr. Black reassured me I have made the right choice. Thank you again Dr. Black for releasing Chuck suffering and a huge thank you to the staff that helped me get in and out of the office. ( RIP Chuck)

Everyone was kind and professional. The DVM helped to calm my concerns about a lump on my dog's inner thigh. A sample was taken and the good news that it was a benign lipoma came in just a couple days. For a first visit I couldn't be happier.

Theyve been taking care of our two dogs since they were pups, always gentle and caring towards them. Shout out to Dr. Black for being a great vet and being there for our babies.

Let me start by saying that our first experience and our second experience here were completely different. Our first experience with Dr. Stewart/Black was fine. He seemed very genuine and professional and took the time to discuss our options when it came time to putting our dog down. We ended up leaving the first time as we felt it wasn't quite the right time. Putting our dog down is easily one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make. We ended up rescheduling for a week later and as our luck would have it Dr. Stewart/Black was on vacation so we were told we would be seeing another vet. This experience was a nightmare from the minute our vet, Dr. Fitzpatrick, introduced herself. She was not comforting or professional at all. She decided she needed to insert a catheter into our dogs foot as she felt more comfortable finding the vein this way. We did not discuss this with Dr. Black/Stewart the first time as this was not part of the procedure we were comfortable with. Dr. Fitzpatrick and the nurse took our dog in the back room for 15-20 minutes to complete the process of inserting the catheter. Around the 15 minute mark we were getting very uncomfortable and anxious so I decided to open the door and ask for an update. The gal I talked to said they had just wrapped up and would be in with the dog shortly. When the nurse brought our dog in (mind you her mouth was bloody from all the stress and fighting she was doing) I asked why Dr. Black/Stewart did not discuss the catheter process with us and she stated that all vets do things different. I explained to her that we didn't realize they would have our dog in the back room area for such a long time around other dogs causing her more stress and anxiety. When Dr. Fitzpatrick came in a few minutes later I explained the same concerns to her and I guess this is where she got her feelings hurt and stated that they didn't have our dog around other dogs and that everything was fine. Her next statement is what really set me off which caused us to pack up and leave. She stated "I understand, anger is part of the healing process". Really? Who says that kind of thing to a customer/client who's bringing their animal in to have it put down? Absolutely no respect or compassion from this person at all. After doing some digging I found out that she is in fact a temporary fill in vet and used to run the Spanaway vet clinic for some time previously. While our overall experience with the vet clinic and Dr. Black/Stewart was fine, it is their responsibility on who they hire as a fill in vet and Dr. Mary Fitzpatrick acted in the most unprofessional, non-caring manner imaginable. I would not recommend her or this vet clinic to anyone looking to have their dog put down. Although it's been months since this horrible ordeal I've finally gotten the courage to write this in hopes that no one else has to deal with the horrible nightmare we experienced. I have yet to receive an apology from anyone at this clinic for the unprofessionalism experienced by this vet and honestly know we never will which is all I need to know about this business and their feelings toward their customers and their pets.
