My accountant of 10 years (one person shop) decided to become apart of Hunt Jackson a few years back. I went from working with someone who I really respected, and felt valued my business to a company who did not. During the initial transition I was told that things would look relatively the same...I could keep the same recording systems, prices would be roughly the same, and of course level of service. As a small business owner of 20 years, these things felt important to me. What unfolded over the last few years was prices that TRIPLED, less and of poorer quality service, and hidden fees (they charge you $240 annually to send a reminder letter to pay your estimated taxes). When I brought this stuff up, I was met with a lack of understanding to my issues and a take-it-or-leave-it approach. Which is fine, except none of this was communicated during the transition, and the things they communicated would occur during the transition (affordable pricing, personal attention) did not. Overall a very unfortunate experience and one I would not recommend.

Ive done my taxes here for the past 4 years and have saved literally hundreds of thousands in taxes/over a million dollars in taxable income write offs through tax strategies such as cost segregation and bonus depreciation on commercial real estate. Mark Canton has filed all of my returns and spearheaded all of this work. My returns are hundreds of pages long and involve 8 entities. Mark and his team were able to file my taxes EARLY this year so long as I actually got them everything they needed on time. I noticed another review here trashing Mark and I can almost guarantee that you that person is the one failed to get documents over in time. Anyone in the services industry knows there is always 1 out of 50 or 100 customers who cannot take accountability for their own misses and angrily shift blame to anyone else but themselves. Ive personally referred at least 10 people to work with mark over the years and not a single one has had similar complaints. My only complaint about hunt Jackson is that a regular tax filing is getting pretty expensive and may not be worth it unless you have more nuanced or complicated returns where they can actually save you enough money to cover the additional cost of filing compared to a less advanced CPA.
