I was doing classes at Greenwood Acting Studio for about a year and loved it. Each week was a truly excellent and eye-opening experience. The exercises are heavily (but not exclusively) based on the teachings of Sanford Meisner, which are really great for opening yourself up to your impulses without filtering, allowing you to live truthfully and in the moment. Kjerstine is an awesome, caring, knowledgeable, and genuine instructor. For anyone who's interested in getting into acting, exploring Meisner, or even just delving into their own humanity, I highly recommend. Can't wait to get back into the classes.

As an aspiring artist looking to reignite her passion and flare for acting, this class has been an absolute pleasure. Challenging just as much as it is fun, it focuses on connection with your partner through the emphasis of being truthful and present. Aka the Meisner technique, which has been fascinating to dive into, and helps build important skills for anyone interested in acting. Even past improving ones theatrical craft, this class (and Im only a few weeks in) has advanced real life skills of feeling comfortable with showing my true self, and becoming more attuned to noticing others truths/behaviors/moods. For those who tend to overthink/live in their heads a lot, this class will do wonders for helping you just be, and just feel. Kjerstine is an impactful teacher that takes careful note of her students personalities and strengths, and pushes us in a motivational yet honest way to refine our techniques. She is also just a really cool person whos fascinating to glean knowledge and stories from. Im having a great time at Greenwood Acting Studio and would recommend to absolutely anyone, thanks Kjerstine!

Short Review: If you are an actor in the Seattle area and looking for a supportive yet challenging training environment to improve your acting, this Meisner class is for you. Try it! Do it! You wont regret going! I look forward attending every week. Long Review: I started working with Kjerstine in the summer of 2019. She was facilitating a weekly class in the Meisner technique. I had experience training in other acting methods, but was brand new to Meisner. I have throughly enjoyed learning from Kjerstine ever since. As a teacher, Kjerstine is extremely talented in meeting each student where they are. New to the technique or not, she excels at helping to break down habits and free you to follow your impulses. She will challenge, support, and cheer you on all at the same time. She does so with truth and honesty. She provides time for each student to reflect after an exercise as well as encourages students watching to include their thoughts as well. I love the group of folks who come to train. They are all excellent training partners. They are there to learn and get better. It is not a competitive environment, but certainly an environment that will push you to be your best. Its a group that will catch you as you practice being more vulnerable and in turn more free in your acting. This class has helped me to peel back layers of habits. It has helped me listen to my impulses and actually follow them. This class has given me the time and space to be more comfortable with myself which has been incredibly beneficial for my acting as well as in my personal life. I would not feel as confident as I am in my decision to move to NYC to pursue acting if I had not regularly attended this class. I love this class and already miss it as I head to NYC. Cant recommend checking out this class enough!
