Dale Miller is an extraordinary craftsman with the vision and passion to consistently take his stone mason work to the highest level. He has a natural eye for mixing the stone shapes so the finished palette is never boring. He picks each stone out one-by-one at the stone yard to reduce waste and facilitate faster assembly. He also has an exuberant personality that makes him a friend to all the neighbors and, as importantly, all the neighbors dogs. One morning while Dale was working at the road and I in another part of the yard, I heard a compliment to Dale thrown out the window by the bus driver, You rock! That work is spectacular! Dales walls are between 15 and 18 thick depending on application. They appear to be dry-stacked but are actually ingeniously assembled with concrete and then capped on the top row with a visible concrete-and-rock cap. My husband and I routinely walk on them to move from one end of an area to another quickly. Dale used this process to assemble about 350 of retaining walls for us at heights ranging from one to four feet over the last five years. He has also built three raised beds that are about 2-1/2 feet tall so I can garden as I age. I sit on the edge to plant and tend. In addition, he created a grill station for our home and a flagstone walkway. Inside the house, he re-grouted an 110-year-old fireplace and rebuilt another from ground up. Through all of this, we have never had a disagreement that carried over to the next day. In fact, its hard to think of when we even had a disagreement. We have been associated with a number of contractors over the past ten years. He is in a class of his own. Best of all, we call him our friend.
