I enjoyed working with all of the instructors of this course. I gained extremely valuable hands on experience with musicians and equipment. If you want a solid foundation in recording and mixing music this is the place to go.

With this being a smaller trade school, I didn't really discover it until a couple months before applying and getting accepted. And I'm very pleased that I did! I took level one and two of SRA's audio engineering courses - graduating from the second course in June 2022. I learned all the ins and outs of using a DAW to record at home all the way to recording a session with live bands in the school's studio! And it was all hands on! With the class sizes small and the course content so well put together, I was able to firmly grasp the concepts taught about the music/recording industry all while feeling free to ask questions and not be left behind. The faculty was also amazing as they are all experienced pros in the field. What was shown to us is very applicable to the real world of recording and set the students up well for success after graduation. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to get into any kind of music and audio work. I love music and it was by far the best educational experience I've had! Big thanks to Joe and Karyn for founding this great school!

I took the Audio Engineering courses at Seattle Recording Arts - both levels 1 and 2 - and as someone interested in pursuing music production as a career, it was one of the most valuable and rewarding educational experiences I've ever had. The instructors are fantastic to work with, they are eager to see you succeed and teach based on their own extensive experience in the field. Our level 2 class was very small, with only four students including myself, which meant we each received all the attention from instructors we needed. I note this because a class size of four felt like the perfect amount for the in-studio environment, which made my time in the course even more fantastic, but future level 2 classes might not have this advantage. This is my only (potential) caveat. I originally chose to take the courses here because it seemed like a great opportunity to get real-world hands-on experience, and that promise was definitely delivered. Level 1 starts fairly slow, and takes the time to lay the groundwork; level 2, however, was very exciting because we were actually running real recording sessions in the studio for real bands, and by the end of the class I had run a session on my own (for the final project), which is something I'd never have imagined myself doing a year ago. Since graduating from SRA I have released a song under my own artist name for the first time, and I also have the skills to earn money by recording other artists. I am incredibly thankful for this class and all those involved in it for giving me the confidence to pursue my musical dreams :) If you are interested in audio engineering, this is an excellent way to get a head-start in the industry with invaluable, practical hands-on experience.

I wish I could more accurately depict--in words--how great my experience was. I went through a traditional college experience several years ago, but this program was so much better than that experience. I took the Audio Engineering courses, levels 1 and 2. Overall, the program was more than I had hoped for. Seattle Recording Arts is more than just classroom-based learning. There was a lot of opportunity to work hands on in the studio with gear and musicians. By the end of the course, the students were running their own sessions. It truly felt like the program was setup in a way to give students the most success possible. Above all things though, Joe and Karyn were absolutely amazing. The application and administration was made simple and easy to understand, but Karyn was still always available to thoroughly explain anything I needed clarification on. Joe and Karyn often talked about the music community and importance of building relationships, and they backed up all of this information by introducing the students to as many different people as possible in both the recording world and adjacent fields. They are truly some of the best people I have met. I honestly wish I could take this class over and over again because the class environment was incredible. I learned so much and made lasting relationships with other students and musicians. I could not have asked for a better experience.
