Dr Joe not patent with children. I was very happy with out first consultation appointment. My 9 year old son needed a baby root canal the doctor was polite and explained everything in detail. We had the procedure scheduled out about 2 weeks after. The day of procedure my son was understandably nervous because hes a kid whos never had drills or needles in his mouth. Before the procedure began he was asking the assistant lots of questions, he was trying to figure out exactly what they were going to do. While Im not a dentist or a nurse or whatever I was doing my best to advise my son on what to expect, however I noticed the assistant was avoiding being truthful about the use of a needle. My so. directly asked her if hes going to get poked? She lied and said no and used another term nothing close to a pokeIm looking at her like why are you not keeping it real? I can understand being all cute and sweet with the little 4-5 year olds but this is a 9 year old, hes not stupid. As a mother I know my child and realized this approach will not workthe doctor finally entered the room, assistant gave my son some gas for anxiety, and doctor started to get him numbthe second my son noticed the needle pass his forehead he freaked out. My son didnt jump up or grab anyone but he was firmly asking what is that?! The doctor never spoke another word, he put his utensil down and walked out. Im left with my son in the room as I calmed him down. He was okay and finally aware of what happened, because I told him it was a needle to help numb the pain, and he went on watching the cartoon on the screen above his head. Now minutes later, the assistant walked back in the room and tells us that we need to cancel the procedure. The doctor doesnt feel comfortable moving forward. The doctor never returned to the room to speak to me directly about anything. I thought that was very rude and unprofessional. He left the assistant to explain the reason for the cancellation. But nobody wanted to discuss my son discomfort or help him understand the procedure. My son got in the car. He began to cry because he didnt understand why they didnt finish like they kicked him out. I almost cried myself just watching him being so upset. Worst experience ever worse dentist office ever. I took my son to my family dentistry. I explain to my family dentist, how nobody took time to be honest with my son, my son needs the full details when doing anything to his body. my family dentist was very patient and did a great job explaining everything. My dentist was able to extract his tooth without gas. I would never recommend this Dental office after what me and my son went through.

Your hours say open til 6pm but all calls at all hours go to a voice line...? 100% inconvenient for parents who are trying to get their kids seen and are calling every pediatric dentist in the Portland/Metro area.
