image Working with Lori Bernard during the sale of my house proved to be one of the most challenging experiences I've had in real estate. From the outset, I repeatedly felt that Lori was more focused on her interests, often sidelining ours. This feeling not only complicated the process but also instilled a sense of unease and mistrust in our interactions.
Despite our explicit agreement to avoid dual agency representation, I perceived that boundaries were often blurred. In my observation, it appeared that Lori interacted with potential unrepresented buyers that she met at our open house without actively suggesting they seek independent representation. This gave me concerns about potential conflicts of interest and the competitiveness of the offers.
She thereafter referred to this interested party as "my buyers" on several occasions, despite being contractually prohibited from representing them in a purchase of our property. She also said that she didnt trust the buyers we were currently under contract with and made comments that I perceived to be aimed at getting me to let the deal fall apart. This made me feel like she was not putting her duty to represent us as her first priority.
In addition, certain discussions I thought were private and confidential seemed to be shared, which took me by surprise and left me uncomfortable. Further issues arose when I felt Lori didn't accurately convey my stance during negotiations. Both issues came to light after a letter from the buyers was attached to an extension request which threatened legal action and caught me totally by surprise. In my estimation, while the deal did eventually close, the path there was full of unnecessary challenges. This included direct communication with the buyers and unexpected expenditures to keep the deal on track to close.
To be sure, there were complicating factors with this home sale that were outside of Lori's or anyone's control. However, in this case, I felt that Lori's involvement often made the process more difficult rather than less. I don't take writing a negative review lightly. In fact, I don't think I've written one before. But our concerns were clearly communicated to Lori and her managing broker. They were given ample opportunity to make things right with us and declined which is of course their prerogative given that they apparently don't share our view of events.
While Lori may have garnered positive reviews in the past, and her approach might resonate with some, it certainly didn't align with my expectations. If you're considering engaging with Lori, I'd emphasize the significance of transparent communication and meticulous documentation to ensure your interests are consistently prioritized.

image There aren't enough stars here to express what we think of Lori! We met coincidentally when I called about a house on Zillow. She told us about that house and another house she had listed that sounded perfect for our needs. After getting to know Lori and seeing the house, we not only purchased the home but chose to list our previous house with her. Because we lived in the home for 26 years and had made few changes, we decided to do some major updates to the first floor. She put us in touch with Christi Carlson from Carlson Paint and Design. We were more than pleased with all the renovations they did and all of the contractors that Lori recommended for us. Lori's assistant Holly and Kellie at Title One were extremely helpful, too. Because of Lori's knowledge of the market and pricing, patience and guidance, friendliness and concern, our home sold the first day it went on the market to the first people who looked at it. Throughout the whole process she was always very professional and quick to respond to any questions and concerns we had. In the seven houses we have owned Lori is by far the best realtor we've ever had the pleasure to deal with. The best thing about this whole experience is that we now consider Lori a wonderful friend!
