DO NOT GO. I repeat. DO NOT VISIT DR. SALINSKY FOR YOUR DENTAL CARE.
I went to my first appointment at Dr. Gerald Salinsky's office due to a Groupon for a cleaning, exam and xray. Dr. Salinsky looked at my xrays and I was told I had one cavity and I made an appointment to come back and have it filled.
Once I was in the chair for my second appointment, I was told I needed TWO fillings AND that I had an abscess that required a root canal. I opted to have both fillings taken care of at the same time and make a future appointment for a root canal.
The quote I was given for the root canal was quite expensive, and I am self-employed without dental insurance, so I opted to get a screening at Marquette Dental School to see if I was eligible for their services and get a quote for a root canal there. Dr. Salinsky's office refused to give me a diagnostic-quality copy of my xrays, so I had to be xrayed again at Marquette. Surprise! I didn't actually have an abscess, no root canal required.
I wrote this off as a mistake or a difference of opinion, and just counted myself lucky that I had gotten a second opinion, UNTIL: A collegue coincidentally mentioned that she had recently been to the dentist and had been diagnosed with 2 abscesses and that she needed root canals, but that she had gotten a second opinion, and that she did not, in fact, need root canals. "Did it happen to be Dr. Salinsky on Port Washington Rd?" (Mind you, there are hundreds of dentists in the greater Milwaukee area) "Oh my God, yes!!!! How did you know that?"
I later found out that the $900+ dollar quote I was given at Dr. Salinsky's office for the root canal didn't even include a crown.
It is THEFT to trump up diagnoses so you can profit from unnecessary treatments and it completely medically unethical. This guy is a scammer and a quack and should be out of business and lose his license.
