I had a great experience for an ER visit. I mean, it is the ER and not somewhere you want to go but hey, it happens. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Dr. P got me all stitched up after a small surfing accident left me with a gaping wound on my forehead and nurse Kelly followed up with me the next day to see how I was doing. It was a quick, easy intake process and I was in and out within an hour. Thank you. I had a great experience for an ER visit. I took my six year old into the ER on Sunday June 27th at about 12pm. He had a horrible ear infection that was not getting any better even on antibiotics. His father originally brought him to urgent care in Cheyenne where they started him on the first set of antibiotics. He could not keep the med down. He tried food, drinks, bribing everything, but our son could not physically keep this med down and almost impossible for him to even get it down. When he came home to me in Cheyenne I took him to Laramie Peak Health clinic and he was put on a less aggressive antibiotic that he was actually able to take, but that only helped for about two days and then it the pain and symptoms came back worse than before. I took him in Sunday, as previously stated, explaining the situations and the problem with the first antibiotic. The nurse, her name was Joe, proceeded to tell me that I needed to make him take the medication. I repeatedly said that it was not that he WOULDN'T take it, it was that he physically couldn't so it was pointless to keep or put him back on something that he couldn't keep down. I was ignored and treated as though I just wasn't trying hard enough and my son was just refusing to take it. The doctor at that time and this nurse continued to push the medication. I finally said that if they weren't going to come up with a solution than we would be put back on the med and just be back because it is no help when he can't take it. The nurse was telling my son that if he didn't take the medication he would end up in the hospital and get shots that would hurt....my son is 6 and sitting there in pain. She then proceeded to say that there was another little girl that had to take yucky medication and she just did it so that she could get better.....again he tried multiple times for multiple days to take this medication....he felt horrible, he wanted to feel better, he tried. We tried everything to mask the taste, it didn't work. I requested pills that I could break up instead and we went that route. What they did not realize is that my sister in law was in the bay next to me at that time with a migraine. When I took my son to the restroom they proceeded to talk about me and my parenting and how they couldn't believe that I just wouldn't make him take it, completely bashing me in front of other patients. First off this is completely unprofessional to say the least and unethical. I work with client's daily in a mental health and substance abuse center and if I were to do this and display this behavior I would get reprimanded for HIPPA violation and fired for my lack of professionalism, ability to listen to the client, and lack of compassion. I will be filling a formal complaint. I ended up taking my son to children's clinic that Wednesday because even with being able to swallow the pills he still was not any better at all. When at the children's clinic they figured out he not only had the ear infection that had continued to get worse and worse....as I stated in the ER he had this ear infection going on two weeks and with meds it wasn't getting better, but he also had cellulitis that was on the verge of turning into mastoiditis. He was a day away off being hospitalized. He had to get the Rocephin shots three days in a row. I took my six year old into the ER on Sunday June 27th at about 12pm. The lady who let me in the ER room after hours was so rude. When she asked about my address they had on file, I told her i wasnt sure why they had that address she said "I dont really care" she wasnt friendly at all and for someone who is the first person a sick person sees, she should be ALOT more friendlier and kind. I wont be returning to this hospital ever again. The lady who let me in the ER room after hours was so rude.
