Estes Tae Kwon Do is a great place for both for those who are just starting, as well as for those with advanced belts to stay in practice. Mr. Estes has years of experience as an instructor, and provides just the right balance of encouragement and challenge, besides being a good role model for kids. Depending on the evening and ages, classes are often smaller, permitting more personal attention. We were very pleased with the progress our son made there over several years.

I thought I would enjoy a smaller martial arts school for my autistic son, who had previously been in a larger school. The owner, Allen I believe, claimed he had another autistic student, so knew how to work with kids in this way. After paying $300 for 3 mths of lessons, I had to leave after 6 weeks. What Mr Estes apparently did not understand, nor cared to when I tried to explain it to him, is that all autistic kids are different. There is a difference between being inspiring & pushing your students to do better & work harder, to just being a bully. Mr Estes was SO aggressive during one class, he was yelling at my son over & over to answer a question. My son was so distraught he had just shut down & literally couldn't speak. We left in the middle of class, my son in tears, which I almost never see from him. But, he was brave & willing to go back & give it another try. I even printed out some autism information & pragmatically spoke with Mr Estes about what my son personally struggled with. Which Mr Estes then returned by giving ME a hard time & a lecture! My son stayed another class or two, but the aggression continued toward him. He could have simply been motivated by praising his progress, rather than singling him out and reprimanding his incredibly hard work. As an already financially struggling single mom of two, it was a huge monetary investment for me, which I ended up with a lot of upset, anger & loss of $150. Chose another place to train your child where there are several instructors there to help the kids, rather than one single, unprofessional, old school instructor, who thinks yelling & humiliation are good motivational tools.

The best place to learn taekwondo in Norman! People here are really friendly and amazing! ! The schedules are really flexibility. Estes Tae Kwondo have classes from Monday to Friday, so you always can attend anyday at your convenience. And they don't make you sign any contract. The price is really reasonable!! I really like it !!
