Although Gwin's Lodge is a bit remote, it's nestled in a beautiful part of Alaska. The cabins were small but equipped for everything we needed for a brief, one-night stay. No fridge, but coffee-maker and a few toiletries provided, plus a space heater! It did get a bit cold in the night since the space heater got accidentally unplugged but we warmed up. We were served one of the last breakfasts of the season, which was soooo tasty - best home fries. Do make sure to check in before 8pm, as things wind down quickly after that.

We stopped in on our way through. The halibut was scrumptious and cooked to order so that was a definite plus. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. I would recommend if you’re looking for a quick, laid back and simple menu’d roadside restaurant.

Great place to stop for lunch. It wasn’t super busy when we got here but it filled up quick. The staff was nice and hospitable. I got the those burger which was really good. I also got the fried pickles which I loved, but thought it was dumb that I couldn’t sub them for my fries so I had to get a side order of them. The food was good and the staff was friendly so what more can you ask for.

Good is excellent and atmosphere is the best. We had the Philly and the Halibut Tacos. Both excellent. Burgers looked awesome, but we didn’t order them.

On our way from Homer back to Seward we saw the live music sign at Gwin’s Lodge and pulled in. Unfortunately, we missed the live music by a day but decided to grab a bite to eat since we were there. There were no tables open so we sat at the bar. So glad we did our bartender Melissa was so friendly and made us feel right at home. Even though she said that she had worked a full day she was still kicking A$$ and full of smiles. We ordered The Lodge Salad with grilled chicken and it was over the top good! As we sat at the bar Janice made a Captain Kenai drink that “blue” me away. It was the same color blue as the Kenai River and packed a punch! Our overall experience was outstanding and we were so glad that we stopped in. Melissa and Janice - your friendliness and hospitality made our day. Thank you so much!!
So if you happen to drive by this awesome little log cabin bar and restaurant - stop in for a drink our a bite to eat. You will not regret it
