Stayed for 2 nights (1 night in lodge, and 1 night in a cabin) and wasps were everywhere INDOORS. We had no sleep and management was not around and has not responded to messages. Trash in lodge was overflowing. Shared bathroom in lodge has no toilet paper. Really disappointing.

Stayed here for two nights to tour Kennecott and McCarthy. I can't say the experience was bad, here's a few to consider. This is basically a hostel. What does that mean? Everyone shares everything. Kitchen? Shared. Bathroom? Shared. Shower. Shared. If you don't like to intermingle with people or share anything in a communal setting, then this place probably isn't for you. The only thing available was the suite, and it was a bit pricey, however, I recognize the fact that this is a home pretty much in the middle of nowhere with amenities like hot running water. So I understand the cost. The room was big, clean, and accommodating. The pullout couch was was not good, the mattress support was broken around one corner, so it sagged badly. The doors stick because the catches are either not plumb or installed too tight. But it was close to the mines and warm at night. That's really all there is to it. Its really just a place to stay; if your thing is hanging out inside all the time then don't come here. There plenty to do as well. Head in and check out McCarthy. Go to Kennecott. Head back down the road and explore Wrangell St. Elias Park. If you don't want to drive and RV or tent camp at the base camp next door, then this is a no-frills option that has a place to sleep, a place to cook and eat, and place to clean up. And the morning views from the balcony are pretty awesome.

Rooms full of wasps, no maintenance, no staff on site. We could not sleep for 2 nights because rooms were infested with tens of wasps entering through gaps between the logs in the wall. When reporting the issue to the office of the parent company, they only thanked us for letting them know. When writing and complaining, the simply ignored us. I would not go there, and I would advice travelers to avoid this lodge. There are much better options in McCarthy and Kennicott.

Currently dealing with wasps. They got into the lodge somehow. Good thing the wasps don't seem to sting people though
