Quality Inn Glendale At Arrowhead Towne Center - Closed

This used to a Quality Inn. It's been rebranded as "The Hotel Serene." So, they lost their franchise & it shows. No art on the wall, the couch & drapes are filthy. The toilet lid doesn't fit the tank, no garbage can, hair (not mine) on the sheets, bed cover. The shower liner is moldy, the toilet paper is on top of the tank... No holder. Didn't want to pay "snowbird" prices over a holiday weekend & this is what we got.

When we arrived they had overbooked and they did not have a room for us. No attempts were made to contact us before our arrival.

Lobby was clean and smelled nice.  Person at the desk was super friendly and helpful.  Check in went well,and I was given a room on the first floor as requested.  She even let me "inspect" the room before confirming that I would take it.  First impression was great.  I was traveling with a service dog, and the front desk person asked me for "my service dog paperwork."  Clearly, a violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act, and "paperwork" is not required.  Luckily, I had an ID card for my dog for situations like this, but in 16 months, I have never been asked, and I stay in hotels almost monthly and have traveled across the US, in 15 states, and was never questioned about it.  I don't blame the front desk person, I'm fairly certain that would be a training  issue.  I even called when I made the reservation weeks in advance to advise I was traveling with a service dog  and requested a first floor room so the proper accommodations could be made.  Room was clean.  New floors, bathroom was updated, fresh paint, but some minor things were a loose outlet (looked a little hazardous), an obvious leak / water damage in the shower from the upstairs unit (not currently leaking), and the furniture was a little outdated. Bed was comfortable, bedding was clean and smelled fresh.  The water in the shower was hot enough, but the shower head was a little too low of pressure for me, but it worked!  There was also plenty of towels and toilet paper."Due to the renovation" of the hotel, my room did not have a microwave, but there is one in the lobby for guests to heat things up.  A little bit of hassle, but it worked for my stay.  The room refrigerator was dorm-sized, withno freezer.  Had I known that, I would have brought my travel fridge/freezer as I had frozen food for heating up during my 3 night trip/stay.  The property is relatively clean outside.  They only accept services dogs, but there are two grassy areas on each end of the building.  The back parking lot had construction dumpsters, but they are renovating.  The location is really nice.  Right next to Arrowhead Mall.  There's alot of shopping and restaurants within walking distance.  I felt safe in/out of the room, and while walking my service dog.Noise....at night, I could hear the people next door talking (there's a door adjoining the rooms).  I could hear their TV, coughing, laughing, etc.  The people upstairs could be heard walking (or running) around the room.  It wasquite annoying.  I believe they had children.  All in all, it was an okay stay.  I would stay there again if I really had to.  All of the staff members that I interacted with were very friendly, and always asked if I needed anything.
