Peaceful. Accommodations simple but meet all needs. You can pray and meditate. Sisters are very nice people.

The road up to Santa Rita Abbey is unpaved and rough. Watch for potholes. The retreat house is nice with single bed rooms and a common kitchen with fridge for all guests. Rates are very reasonable. The landscape surrounding the area is beautiful. There are scorpions, spiders, bugs of all shapes and sizes.. be careful. I wouldn't recommend leaving shoes or bags open on the floor. The Cistercian nuns, who live in a separate building on the premises, are very sweet and devout. You can pray with them in the church, according to their prayer schedule, approx 5 minutes walking distance from the retreat house.

I stayed at the Santa Rita Abbey retreat house for 2 nights, and prayed almost all the Liturgy of the Hours with the nuns. The accommodations were very simple but comfortable as expected when you stay at a monastery. I found the nuns very welcoming. The monastery is in a wonderfully peaceful setting away from the city(outside of Tucson). There is no light interference and so the view of the stars is stunning at night. Wonderful place for those seeking prayerful solitude.
