Larkmead Vineyards

2012 Solari may have been the singular best Napa Cab I’ve ever had leading to this visit for me since I’ve enjoyed their other wines mightily. An historic winery with a lovely history full of characters, it is decidedly low key and genial. Generous pours and additional wines poured upon interactive discussion made for an excellent experience, eduction central to the discussions - of Napa, not just Larkmead. Solari, Olmos and LMV Salon all superb with obvious intent for aging. Several vintage featured back to 2012 Lark, so no problem drinking only young wines as someone complained about, a complete exposure presented. Thanks, Kurt.

Have been to Larkmead several times in the past with family and always left feeling well treated- until this last visit. The young gentlemen serving us was genial, but after our tasting we were kicked off the property by management. Honig, by comparison, welcomed us gracefully and let us use their picnic tables without even a scheduled tasting- which is the good spirit and character I'm accustomed to at most Napa wineries. At Larkmead we were rudely engaged by management right after our appointment taking a few minutes to rest in the parking lot. Supposedly this was justified bc we had the "last appointment" of the day. That's not how I treat guests in the industry. Disappointing, condescending and lacking manners.
