Il Gioiello Winery

We discovered Roberts winery 15 years ago and have been coming up ever since. It’s our very favorite place; great wines, and an education by the winemaker and owner he’s the real thing! Beautiful scenery, great hammock, bring a picnic and enjoy.

Robert is both owner and winemaker. So fun to chat with someone so unpretentious and knowledgeable. It's great to have a shop on Main Street in newly gentrified Plymouth. And his wines. Wow! We walked out with four bottles, but next time they might just be cases. Good value, too! His Il Gioiello vineyards up the road will be our visit next time.

This is my second favorite Winery in Amador and it makes my absolute favorite wine. We are members of their wine club and my wife finds ordering wine shipments from them to be "a Breeze". The owner always has something interesting going on when we journey to Amador for festivals and events (i.e. - legendary stone/brick-oven pizzas, amazing guided tour by the owner and Q&A of barrel room, small select group tastes his unreleased wine recipes coming out later in the year). There was a big lovable dog that used to walk us into the tasting room and then back to our cars, but I haven't seen it the past few trips. These wines are all wonderful but I especially love the Montepulciano. If this winery was closer to the others in Plymouth, it would be my favorite all around. This place is a bit out of the way, so call to make sure they are open before trekking out. We haven't been up to Amador since the last Crush festival because of Covid. The last time we were there, we heard something about an In-Town tasting room for Morse Wines and Il Gioiello Winery.
