Had a terrible experience with Richard. He called me and we set up a meeting that he wanted to charge me $100 for a estimate to look at the work on our waterfall. He came that day and he had a idea that sounded good. Said he would email or call me with a estimate. He never emailed me or call me back after I tried calling him several times. I even said if he was not interested in doing the job to let me know and I could get someone else. Not a word back. I think he just wanted his $100 for a 20 minute conversation. Do NOT recommend him at all.

Richard and Daniel built our wonderful pond and waterfall for our backyard and we could not be happier with the result. Both have a ton of experience designing and building ponds and this directly translates to the excellent design and implementation they put into their work. Originally I had wanted to build the pond and waterfall myself and perhaps have them consult on the project, but in the end I am so happy I left it to their capable hands as I would never been able to produce the workmanship and design they came up with. They blew away my expectations and its such a joy to enjoy the wonderful addition they made to our backyard. Since the installation they have been back to check up on the pond and make sure things are running smoothly and they are quick to respond to any issues that arise. For example, a few months into the pond I was cleaning the filter and I had misplaced the seal and I called Richard in a panic that the pump was not working and was sucking air. He gave me a list of issues that it could be and suggested ways to diagnose the problem. This was the first issue I had had with the pond since they had left and I was so relieved that they answered my call on the weekend and helped me resolve the issue. I would have no reservations recommending their services.

The pond that Masuko Landscaping did for me was featured in the San Francisco Bay Area Koi Club's East Bay Pond Tour. Pond features - 3200 gallons, fourteen 27+" koi, 7 waterfalls, a taro forrest, stained glass, bonsai tree and a glowing red sunset over the San Francisco skyline. The pond was well designed, implemented quickly - but completely, and  aesthetically and biologically conducive to healthy koi. In addition to building the pond, Masuko built an extended deck and benches, added a water catchment system that stores 1000 gallons of rainwater, and did extensive terracing of my back yard that now is home to 50 species of plants, herbs and fruit trees. If you want ecologically friendly landscaping, a pond, or pond services, Daniel and Richard Masuko are recommended without reservation.

Richard installed a koi pond and waterfall for us. He was very helpful and his expertise was very beneficial in deciding how we wanted to have everything built.The finished project exceeded our expectations and he's been very helpful answering a few questions I had for maintaining the pond after the project was finished. I would definitely recommend him if you looking to add a water feature.
