Deck Preservation

Jose is an excellent craftsman. He was incredibly responsive when we reached out about him refinishing our pergola and railings in our backyard. The wood had been stained from the ash that settled from the wild fires in 2020.Jose is very honest and took great care in every aspect of the job. My parents were here one of the days Jose was working and they immediately said they wanted his contact information because they were so impressed. Our pergola, benches, and railings look brand new! I recommend Jose 1000%

Great job done by this careful, meticulous solo operator. That fact that he's also priced appropriately for his excellent work made him the perfect choice to seal a large, new deck. He even had to deal with removing inferior stain used by a prior company. A really nice guy to have around, too!

Great work and communication.  Sure, you can restain your own deck, but why??? You get a much nicer result with Deck Preservation.

Jose came out the same day I called, examined my deck, told my my deck was in good condition, said the original is deck coating is water based and he only does oil base. Then proceeded to explain step by step everything I would need to do to refinish the deck myself. Very kind, considerate and helpful.

We moved into a house with a large (500sqft or so) redwood deck that was still in decent shape but hadn't been refinished in quite some time. We got a few quotes for refinishing the deck, and had Jose out in December to strip, sand, stain & do some light maintenance work on the deck.This was one of the best experiences that I've had with a contractor in Oakland. Jose wrote up a detailed estimate (which ended up being the exact cost we paid in the end), and booked us for three days of work about two weeks later. Jose explained every step along the way, and his work was extremely meticulous. He also gave advice on a few other yard/fence maintenance questions and was honest about what he thought we didn't need to touch for awhile.The deck looks and feels great now. Jose's quote wasn't the cheapest, but it was completely fair for the quality of the work. Would highly recommend!
