1 star speaks louder than words. There was multiple problems with my Uhaul rental, however the main problem with my rental was the truck when I rented it June 28th. I was doing a long distance move and figured Id get the coverage for the vehicle like I always do. Apparently before my rental, the truck was recently recovered from being stolen. I quickly looked it over, thinking there could be issues and was unsure if the rental location checked it prior to re-renting and I didnt see any issues. Once I got to location A to load the truck up, getting the back door up and down took some effort, more than normal and tried to shut the door to the back it kept getting stuck after a certain point, thus could not close. This was the 2nd time I closed the door and the same day I rented it. Upon closer look, one of the coils on a side where the cable was for the door got tangled and was not my fault. Then it got worse. From there I was on hold with Uhaul Roadside for 2-3 hours when they advertise 5-10 minutes. After finally getting ahold of uhaul roadside, it took another 1-2 hours for them to get out. I understand things happen and travel time, but this wasted half of a day I couldve traveled in. I could demand for a partial refund of a day due to this, but thats not the main issue. Once the technician came out, there were two options to do. 1. Do a quick band aid solution and disconnect the cable from the coil to be able to get the rear door up and down. Or 2. Take another 1-2 hours and fix the coil and cable and have me more frustrated. The technician chose option 1, which I appreciated. So once that issue was resolved, we started our traveling to location B. We brought it back at midnight the night of Friday July 2nd. We put the keys in the drop box and expected things to go ok and if not get a call from that location. The next morning, not only did I get no phone call but additionally I was charged for damage. The coverage that I got to protect the vehicle was voided out and I was charged an additional $421.17 just for the cable damage that I apparently caused. The location claimed intentionally removed cable on right side of back door. They claimed have no idea why they removed cable on back door. Back roll up door- the cable was removed on right side and door will not roll up correctly. 1. I DID NOT remove it, a Uhaul roadside technician did and 2. The back door already was messed up and had issues even before I rented it. I guess that didnt matter. Immediately on July 3rd after seeing my bill, I called Uhaul with no help and left a review with uhaul with this issue. Uhaul said they would follow up in a few days once this issue was resolved, but nothing happened. I should not be paying that extra fee for the damage that was there previously. Poor experience and unfairly charged. DO NOT rent a Uhaul vehicle from this location as they cant do a rental properly or they charge you for something that was there previously and not your fault. In addition, due to this experience and charge, Im not going to use Uhaul EVER again for moving. I would recommend another company to anyone else. Things can turn around for this location or Uhaul if they follow up with their customers when issues happen compared to ignoring them since they get paid and seemingly dont care.
