image Had two reservations for the Fab Forties botched.  The first one was cancelled as the owner said we supposedly either called or texted to cancel. This was not at all true but our only option was to rebook for another open time.  We confirmed a new reservation with the owner and saved the text.  We were on our carriage ride for about 10 minutes when the driver said we were to return to the starting point as someone else had the reservation.  What ensued was a ten minute cluster of what to do next as another party also had the same time.  The owner was called and again tried to say we had canceled, but we had a text to back up our reservation.  We stayed on the ride although were short changed on the time and the whole experience put a damper on the event.  Absolutely very Poor customer service.

image Shame on Sacramento for allowing such a cruel and outdated practice to operate on our streets. Temperatures have been souring all summer there is no way that they kept their promise of not working them over 95 degrees which is already too hot to force them to carry such large carriages. The streets of old town and down town are not safe for these horses nor is it safe for the humans. Not only is it dangerous but having horse shit all over town is not sanitary or pleasing to be around. Last time I was there the horse was stalled and waiting behind the FLiX buss which wreaks like gasoline and the poor horse had to stand there and breath that air and stair at the ground for what seemed like nearly an entire hour. The driver wasn't even paying attention to the horse, showing it any sort of companion ship or providing it with any rewards or stimulation. He sat and played on his phone. It's pretty clear that these people do not actually have a love for these horses and it depressing to see. This "business" model has been banned in other cities around the country and if they don't start treating these horses better I will sign whatever it takes to get Sacramento to be the next to drive this outdated business out of town !!!!!

image This was absolutely the best carriage ride experience I've ever had. And I have gone on carriage rides in NYC and New Orleans. But the Top Hand Ranch Carriage experience will forever resonate with me for knowledge of the city that Mr. Rick Newborn possess, his timely humor and excellent customer service. Thanks Top Hand Ranch Carriage for a job well done!

image We called Top Hand Ranch for the funeral for one of our church members. From the initial contact Top Hand Ranch was very responsive & informed us of what to expect. The transfer from the hearse to the horse & carriage went smoothly & the horse even did a little dance at the gravesite. They allowed guests to pet the horse & take photos with him. We would highly recommend Top Hand Ranch.

image I came from out of town for my daughter's 13th birthday. I had planned to surprise her with a carriage ride around Sacramento. I called a couple of weeks in advance and again the day of. I was told it was a first come first serve system from Friday - Monday. When I initially called I was told they picked up in front of the visitor's center, hours 12-6 on Monday. We stood outside the visitor's center and I called to confirm we were in the right place. I was told by the lady who answered that there was one carriage going around and that I would need to somehow flag the guy down and ask where he was picking up (Visitor's Center or in front of the Ferris wheel). Why should I as customer have to do this? Why doesn't the lady who answers the phone know where the pick up is? Anyhow I was able to ask him as he drove past the visitors center (mind you we had been waiting 20 minutes as my daughter was wondering what we were waiting for, I was trying not to spoil the surprise). As I'm having to ask in front of her the surprise is now spoiled and not only that we wasted 20 minutes waiting in the wrong place. He tells me he's going to the Ferris wheel. So we walk over as he picked up a family and left. There is a family already waiting when we walked up. This family had a young disabled girl in a wheelchair. We got behind them. As the carriage returned another family got in front (mind you there isn't any signage in place, no where that states the carriage pick up is here so really people can be standing anywhere and assume they are next). However the family with the little girl in the wheelchair had been waiting first. The carriage approached and the driver appeared to know the family that was cutting as they were making small talk. The family with the little girl didn't seem to notice that they were cutting the line as they proceeded to take the child out of the wheelchair. The little girl was clapping and was very excited to be getting in the carriage. However the other family got on and the little girl was devastated. She started crying not understanding what was happening. It was heartbreaking to see. The driver of the carriage ignored this family as they tried telling him they were next and overlooked at how upset this little girl was. Needless to say that family left as did we. My daughter was also disappointed but understood that we would NOT be giving our money to a company that treats people this way.
