There are plenty of great folks working there, I liked many of them--a whole lot. However, for someone young or inexperienced in education--I have to recommend a normal public school district. You will likely be managed by individuals with limited experience in leadership or education or both at Rocketship Education (It is a network of a dozen or so schools run by a CEO). However, you will never experience that in a normal public school district because many leaders there actually have decades and decades of experience. Even some of your peers will have as much experience. And many love helping--some districts even have full-time teaching coaches to support your learning and career progress. You will additionally have much better work/life balance because the school days are shorter. Rocketship extends its schools days by more than an hour to entice busy parents into enrolling their children. So if you are new to teaching or considering it, please save yourself the hassle and go to a normal school district where you have a vast amount of support and enough time to actually cook your own dinner every night. If you are struggling to get into a school district, then it is understandable to try your hand here--best of luck--but if you can get into a school district, there is no reason to pick Rocketship. Your life and time matters too.
