We've had a great experience with Kumon so far. I knew about Kumon because we grew up taking the classes for many years. It helped me build a solid foundation for my math skills. It is pricier than when I was growing up (but most things are nowadays). I was worried that with common core math there would be an issue learning the math one way, and then a second way at school. I can say that hasn't been the case so far. Right now it has worked out that my son is learning the common core style just fine in school and can break down "how to get and explain the answer", but also knows how to complete it the way he has learned in Kumon. Mr. Kim is very nice, kind and helpful. We were having trouble juggling both math and reading with our son's homework (sounds ridiculous right?), and he helped us navigate which we should stick with and it's been going great. There's no contract, so we paused one subject, and will pick it back up later. I highly recommend it if you feel like you want to push your kids a little more every day, as well as to reinforce what they've learned in school. They also have a referral courtesy, so if you can do a me a solid and mention my name, that would be amazing.
