HQR, and specifically our project manager Amir Levy, was so good that this is the first time I have wished I could leave a 6-star review. I'll give specifics below, but the bottom line is that they are honest and reliable, they communicate well, and they do incredibly high-quality work on even complicated projects.
We hired HQR to demolish an unpermitted addition that was built by the previous owners, then build a new legal addition in its place. The new addition needed to connect two different existing rooflines and intersected multiple load-bearing walls.
Highlights:
(1) This was our first time doing a major remodel, and we had a lot to learn. Amir went above and beyond helping us identify and resolve potential problems early, patiently answering all of our questions, and explaining our options when a decision needed to be made.
(2) Once we had architectural drawings, HQR gave us a quote and stuck to it. Over the entire lifetime of the project, HQR never once added an unreasonable surprise fee. There were also a few extras we voluntarily added to the scope, such as updating our guest bath and creating a laundry closet, and HQR always gave us reasonable prices for adding them.
(3) Amir aimed for perfection as if this were his own house. If a mistake was ever made by HQR or one of their subcontractors, Amir had it fixed quickly, no questions asked. The end result is a beautiful addition that looks exactly as we had imagined it.
Finally, we learned a really important lesson on this project. We hired our own architect before meeting HQR, and this was a mistake. Using a separate architect created a lot of headaches for us and ultimately ended up costing us more money and delays than if we had used an architect hired by HQR. We plan to hire HQR again in a few years to redo our kitchen, and we will definitely use their in-house architects and designers for that project. Decided to hire HQR for a full house remodel after meeting with 7 contractors in the area. Amir, the project manager, was professional, responsive, on time, and really cares about his clients. From design, finished materials, to inspections and completion, his team was on top of everything, providing great services and advice specific to the project. The quality of work was great and brings the design to life. It has been a stress-free 4 months working with HQR and Amir. Highly recommend. I was cold called today by someone solicitating business. The caller sumarily hung up on me. This has resulted in my undying hatred of your company. Though I am not presently a property owner, I have owned property in the past and plan to be a property owner in the future. I solemnly promise to never do business with this company as long as I live. If ever an opportunity arises for me to do this company a disservice, I shall take it. Further, I have friends who might be in a position to employ this establishment and I intend to influence their negative opinion of P.B. Renovations. I loathe this company.

We contracted Home Quality Remodeling (HQR) for a large interior remodel in San Jose, and was extremely impressed by their work. HQR's project manager Amir Levy was always on point -- professional, reliable, punctual, and overall a pleasure to work with. Our project turned out to be more challenging than we originally hoped (several unforeseen technical issues and some regulatory hurdles), but Amir and his team expertly worked through each of the problems encountered, and finished the project at a very high level of quality. The finished rooms look beautiful, and we are quite happy with the soundness of all the electrical and plumbing work they did as well.
During the remodel Amir kept us up-to-date every step of the way. When it came to selecting finish materials and fixtures, he always explained us the pros and cons of different options, and guided us towards high-quality but reasonably-priced options whenever possible. They brought in qualified and licensed specialists (engineers, electricians, plumbers etc) to handle more technically complex portions of the project. They also handled all the permit processes and city inspections, and made sure everything was done as per the latest city codes. At the end of the project they also gave us plenty of time to evaluate their work, and gladly did all the minor final touchups we asked them to do. All the work also came with a 1 year warrant, so we can be confident that they will have our back if something needs to be looked at again in the coming months. We did have some minor issues come up after the project was finished, but they always responded promptly, and took care of the problems at no cost or hassle to us.
Overall, we cannot be happier we decided to contract HQR and Amir. We interviewed 5+ contractors in bay area at the start of our project. HQR's quote was not the cheapest we got, but it was indeed reasonable. Considering the quality of the finished project, and how they dealt with various unforeseen issues during the project, choosing HQR was one of the best decisions we made. I'd gladly recommend them to anybody that's doing remodels in bay area. Services: Tile work installation, Plumbing fixture installation, Home renovations

I think anyone who is not accustomed to the world of home remodeling would find the process very intimidating. I came across Amir Levy and HQR via Houzz. Of all the project managers I met, Amir appeared to me as the most straight forward and genuine. Signing with Amir and his crew was the best decision I made. As someone who had bad experiences with contractors, he proved to be more than a project manager but a partner who looked out for my best interest. He was also very understanding with my limitations and worked around it to the best of his ability. If I were to remodel again, I will not hesitate to call him back. I highly recommend Amir and HQR!
