    A few years ago I signed up my child and self as patients with Dr. Dierenfield's office. After having my cleaning I realized this was no place for a child and asked the Office Manager, Gabby, to switch my child to a Goleta dentist that specifically works with children. To this day, I believe Gabby intentionally switched us to a Ventura dentist - there is no way to change this designation once changed by a dentist staff except by that same office. For over six months Gabby told me she made the changes but had not and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it no matter how many times I called my insurance, etc. Over the next few years I saw the dentist for routine cleanings where each time they told me "Great job on taking such good care of your teeth!". Then last month out of nowhere I was informed by the dentist and his peculiar sidekick aka dental hygienist that my molars were about to crack in half and would need to be replaced if I did not immediately remove all of my metal fillings and then he suggested what I have discovered to be the absolutely most expensive option - note he is a cosmetic dentist and also always wanted me to get my teeth whitened. I shared this information with another dentist and he told me that he rarely ever uses porcelain inlays because onlays as well as other options work just as well and are a fraction of the cost. Dierenfelds office told the cost would be $800 (a total of $1600) per tooth after the insurance whereas the second dentist told me he is in this profession for health not cosmetics and it would cost roughly $1600 before the insurance and the insurance will cover 40-80% depending on which option I chose. He will give me a 15 minute free consult upon receipt of my x-rays taken a few months ago and he has had a lot of patients from Dr. Dierenfeld. Yesterday I requested my records be emailed over with an authorization form and now I am waiting for them to be sent - sometimes Dierenfeld is known to charge over $30 to have the records emailed...puh-lease! Needless to say, I emailed both offices in order to have a written record of this transfer. Best of luck to you and your pearly whites!

    Worst business or dental experience I've ever had. Set up an appointment for cleaning. Weeks later they called back needing clarification on insurance info; then also tells me my first appointment needs to be an evaluation/xray taking and then come back for a cleaning....okayyy...fine. Arrive at appointment somehow they are asking for insurance info AGAIN. Fill out paperwork and various places ask me to sign that I received a copy of this/that policy. Policy wasn't provided so I didn't sign. She comes back later asking me to sign these spots and I ask her where my copies of the forms/policies are and she was completely dumbfounded! Clearly had no idea where these forms were or how to get them, evidently no one else asks for them or they don't usually provide them! Cut to having the MOST uncomfortable xrays ever done, with hard blocks jammed into my gums....outdated technology?? Never had xrays done in this manner before. Then them telling me that I needed $2500 worth of work done. With yes, as other reviews noted, porcelains. To add insult to injury, I later received a bill for $200, despite my excellent insurance!! I'm not sure how I missed these reviews because I did some solid searching for a place before I chose them; but I am also noting a different name listed on my bill and I'm not sure which dentist I actually saw. Regardless the address and experience is the same as others. DO NOT GO HERE

    Horrible work and bad experiences here. 5 years ago I had a ton of work done on my teeth because I had failed to do preventative maintenance. Unfortuntely the corrective work was not done appropriately. I had a root canal done by a recommended oral surgeon, which went fine, but when I had the new crown put on (porcelein, which is the only thing this dentist recommends because it isn't coverred fully by insurance) he cracked the tooth. I was told it wouldn't be a major problem because of the crown and that the tooth would be like new. I went in recently because the crown felt loose and was told that it was fine and that x-rays weren't needed, that they would do x-rays again in 6 months (which would make it 18 months since my last x-rays). I disagreed, but they insisted it was fine. 3 weeks later the crown got worse. I went back in and they then took x-rays, said that the tooth decayed underneath the crown (which is what a crown is supposed to protect from), and that the tooth was cracked and would likely have to be completely removed. They quoted over $2,000 for this to be done. If you go here, expect these kinds of issues.
