Unforuntately, I had a very bad experience with Dr. Donahue. I did give one star to the office, because her staff was so nice. I wound up with over $1,000 in charges to work on a tooth that Dr. Donahue had said she was nearly certain would need a root canal. No treatment plan, no discussion of what my insurance would or wouldn't cover, no alternatives discussed. Details below In early February I went for an initial visit to Dr. Donahue’s office. I was given a tooth cleaning and had full x-rays done. Upon examination of my teeth and x-rays, Dr. Donahue said the molar on the lower left side of my mouth, completely at the back would very likely need a root canal, and possibly the one next to it. She mentioned a referral to an endodontist. She thought another molar, right side lower, at the back could be fixed with a filling. I made an appointment to have the next stage done. On Feb 15, on the second visit, Dr. Donahue drilled into the tooth that she said was a very likely candidate for the root canal, not working on the other tooth deemed less likely, or the tooth that was a good candidate for a filling. After drilling in, she said it was what she thought and that a root canal was needed. She then filled the back molar with composite permanent fillings that were not covered by my insurance. The other teeth were left with gaping holes. I asked the dental assistant, what about the other tooth, and she put in a temporary filling in the lower left molar second from back. At no time was I presented with a treatment plan, discussion of what my insurance benefits would cover, what other choices I might had. While Dr. Donahue worked on my tooth, she was remarking to herself as she worked. I was handed a referral to an endodontist and a bill and sent on my way. This seemed like a blatant attempt to maximize profit at my expense. It was unprofessional not to discuss the limits of my coverage, what would or wouldn’t be covered during treatment, what my other options within my coverage might be.

Let me first say that I too am a dentist. I was even a professor of dentistry at UOP School of Dentistry. Tina is not only a world class dentist, but she's also one of the kindest, most intelligent, honest, caring, compassionate and hilarious people I've ever known. Not only will you get the very best care, you'll also have a great time. She's always been my dentist, and I would NEVER go to anyone else. Her office is lovely, and her staff is the best. I absolutely love Tina!!

Had dental work done on 11-14-06. On 5-16-07 a company associate for "Tina A. Donahue DDS" called to confirm an appointment for me for the next day, 5-17-07. While on the phone I told associate I never agreed to this visit. Associate informed me that if I canceled the visit I would be subject to a $50 charge and I felt pressured to make an additional visit. I tried explaining that I never agreed to this visit and that they could not in good faith charge me this fee. I have since received a bill for this unfair charge from "Tina A. Donahue DDS" and the company continues to refuse to remove charge.
