Arden House

I'm still heartbroken by the death of my Dad at The Arden House in August. The only way to describe this facility is "unprofessional, uncaring and agenda driven". After a fall at home and a brief stay at Yale Dad unfortunately ended up there. I'm located in FL but from the moment Dad arrived it was impossible to have confidence in this facility. He had no phone in his room and we went for days without speaking to him. We bought him a cell phone and the nurses would shut it off at night and never put it back on. Dad deteriorated quickly (86 years old with CHF) being there he was isolated and lonely. From May 11th to his passing on August 19th I couldn't get any help from Arden to get him home. The owner Phyllis was only concerned with signing papers for Medicaid so they could keep his estate if he were to pass there. After Dad refused to sign and his Medicaid expired they stopped caring for him (June 30th). They still wouldn't respond to me and suddenly he no longer needed PT, OT and even an oxygen tank. I called 3 times a day with different nurses and Social Workers claiming they were new and didn't know him. This facility is not taking care of their patients and doesn't have their best interest at heart. I tried calling the owner who took Dad to court to name a conservator. On August 9th I was given a conference call with Phyllis a nurse and a SW. I was named Co- conservator with my brother and was relieved hoping to now be able to get him home. He was begging my brother to get him out of there and was scared which we found strange. He did have an incident with another patient where he was hurt and required stitches. I think everyone needs to know their history of neglect and incompetence. My Dad didn't die with dignity and respect that we all deserve. He died alone in an uncaring environment with people who just want money and possibly everything in the family estate. The lack of care and premeditated actions are disturbing and need to be addressed. Never did I imagine my first call from the Arden House was received 2 days later letting me know that Dad passed away. The bill for $38k from Arden House came 2 days later along with the attorney bill ($850) they hired to represent Dad in court. What a terrible thing to go through knowing now how bad it really was. Picture is of the food from dinner for a grown man and Dad's final resting place. Stay clear of the Arden House if you want real Healthcare. They need to be investigated and shut down.

Utterly disgusting, floors, walls, care all about this place is nasty! Do not bring your love ones here. Unless you want to see them suffer.

This place is the worst! My parent was injured several times and no one cared. She would complain about how they would hurt her and grab her hard. We even found black and blues on her that were finger prints from being squeezed so hard. She suffered and was deteriorating quickly. They also stole all of her clothes and expensive sneakers and they didn't care. We found her several times with no diaper and a hospital gown because everything was gone. I'm tellin you if you love your family member do not bring them here. Shut this place down!!!

I can not thank Arden House of Hamden enough for the outstanding support and compassion that was given to my relative. He was treated with respect from the time he entered till his recent death. In my and his experience the Business Office is answer any questions. They often go beyond expectations. The skilled Nursing staff is incredible their love, and commitment has no end. Recreation too, always doing something, playing games and music, working on cognitive skills. One thing for sure the whole staff made it a home for my loved one. He was there for 6 years and lived on every floor. As hard as it was to watch him decline, I always knew he was getting the best of care. Thank you is not nearly enough.

I have a family member at Arden House for the last 3 months. It has been a terribly upsetting experience. Though some caring staff, most are unresponsive, uncaring, uncommunicative. Even case workers do not seem to care of follow up on important, simple requests. The facility is in terrible condition, the amenities are gravely lacking. TV and phone lines do not even come standard with room which is typical at other Genesis Properties. Terribly disappointed and I feel terrible for all of their patients.
