I can’t believe this company has a 4 Star rating! They completely scammed me and stole my money. Prodigal Son Remodeling seems very professional and legit, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not fall for it! They were supposed to help me with a remodeling project, and required half of the payment up front (which I understand is standard). They can out to start the project and began demo, made a HUGE mess and then left for the day at lunch. THEY NEVER CAME BACK! I’m out $4000 and now I have to find another company and pay even more money to get it all repaired and fixed right. They will probably be the lowest bid you get...for a reason. And I can’t even find them to sue them! They are a fly-by-night operation. That’s why they will never answer their phone. They will only call you back. RED FLAG! They made me sign a contract, but then they never honor it.

My wife and I called Prodigal Son Remodeling to install a privacy fence and build us a deck. Abury came out and did an estimate. It was a little less than most so we hired him. They came out and did a excellent job on the fence. But when they did the deck. It was simply outstanding. He assisted us in designing it and the built us a beautiful deck.

I first called Abury by mistake. I was trying to call a fencing company and pressed the wrong link on my phone, but Abury was so nice and polite on the phone, I asked him to provide a quote. He never showed for our first appointment and then came by a few days later, saying he just forgot about the appointment. He quoted me $6738 to clear the fence line and build the fence. It was not the cheapest, but the price was fair. They also said they could start right away, which was really important because we had just adopted a dog and wanted him to be able to go outside while we were at work. I asked if he would be building it personally (not subbing it out) and he said he would be out there every day to supervise. I have never seen him since. We amended the contract to beef up the corner and gate posts, complete within two weeks, and both signed it. The workers arrived two days later, brought twelve 4x4x10 pieces of lumber and 12 bags of concrete, and began digging holes. When I got home from work, I saw they had not cleared the fence line and dug some of the holes 20’ onto my neighbors yard. This was really hard to do because they were building the fence along an old fence line in the back. Since the fence line had not been cleared, the fence weaved all over my yard, where ever it was easiest to dig the holes. No three holes were in a straight line and they weren’t an even distance apart. I called Abury, and he said they would get right back out and fix it. Four days later, they can out, dug the holes on my property, and set seven posts. They never came out again. I couldn’t get Abury on the phone for the next three weeks. He finally said it was because he couldn’t find anyone to work for me because I kept changing the design plans. (All I asked them to do was dig the holes on my property) After another two weeks, he said someone would be out the next day. Joseph showed up the next day with one worker and his two toddler children. We went to Home Depot to get the supplies, but Abury said he had transferred the contract to Joseph and they were done with me. He said they had $1600 in supplies, $1600 in labor, and the rest was COMPANY PROFIT! They had maybe $500 in labor and materials by this point. I bought over $4300 worth of materials and never heard from Abury again. Abury had told Joseph he would get $3000 for one days work. After a couple of days working on the fence, Joseph quit because Abury wouldn’t pay him, and I had already paid over $8000 for a fence that was only half finished and very poorly built. I finished the fence myself over the next several weeks. Turns out Joseph owns a trucking company and was only doing the job for some quick cash. The work was so bad, I had to redo a lot of it. I am currently filing a lawsuit with Prodigal Son Remodeling and trying to get back as much of the money as possible. Not only did they break the contract, the work that they did was so bad, it made the whole fence crooked and unsightly. It was a terrible mistake to hire them. They say they are a Christian company, but they stole that money from me. DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!
