I am not a usual google reviewer, but this was shockingly poor service from an HVAC company that knows better. As a point of context, I worked in this industry for 4 years. So while speaking as a consumer, it's a bit informed. First the good -- their online scheduling system was awesome. Got a 6hr appointment slot the following day, even though this wasn't really an emergency. Quick follow-up and scheduling and great communication from dispatch. Here's where things go south fast. The summary: late and surly tech, sloppy work, no clean up of their mess, and WILDLY overpriced. Tech was almost 2 hours late for a 6hr appointment window. Work to be done was to craft a new PVC trap for an air handler in our attic. Tech was grouchy (I get it, being in an attic sucks, and everyone has bad days -- but if you're in a customer facing role as an HVAC tech, attics are part of it the gig and you've got to find a way to deal with it). Work was sloppy, PVC solvent all over the decking, joints not clean. Torn up dirty air filter chucked to the side. Exhaust from his shopvac threw insulation all over our storage bins and blew down from the attic while working left all over hallway. Recommended follow-up was to craft a new auxiliary drain pan (maybe 30" square) and rewrap a plenum with insulation that had gotten wet. The quote was +$1900 for 4 hours of labor and material. HA! - you have to be joking. Forget that, did it myself. Materials from the home center (not even contractor pricing from a supply house) was under $250 including some sheet metal tools needed to do the bending. Took 90 minutes. There are great HVAC contractors in Atlanta - skip these guys. Service: HVAC duct & vent repair

I am still reeling in shock from the repair quote they gave me. No breakdown of the charges to show labor, parts, sales tax, nothing but one huge amount on a blank page. They also added a diagnostic charge which doesnt even make sense since I already told them what was wrong and which part to replace. In recent years I have seen these prices go way beyond reasonable. This is price gouging in my opinion and I will not trust Moncrief for my heating and HVAC service again. Services: HVAC system repair, A/C system repair, Repair HVAC

Filled out their online form and heard back from Leaf Guard right away. They tried to sell me on their product which I did not ask about. I wanted downspouts installed. They said Moncrief sends them leads. I never heard from Moncrief. Not only did they NOT help me, they wasted my time with a spam call from another business I was not interested in. Bad form. If I could give a negative 5 stars I would.

I hate to give a 1 star review, because the service was fine. The prices of this company are so outrageous!! I needed a part switched out on my HVAC unit. I paid $323 for the technician to come out and diagnose the issue. I was told we needed a new part and they would send an estimate over. The estimate for was $1440!!! I asked for a breakdown and was never provided with one. When I looked up the part online, I could buy it for $471. That is almost $1,000 worth of labor, and the estimate said 1.5 hours of labor. Thats over $600 an hour just to swap out a part! I called a competing company in the area, and they quoted me $659 for the part AND for the labor! Had a great experience with them for almost $800 less! Definitely call around before going with this company if money is a factor. Service: A/C system repair

We are very sorry that you were misinformed by Leaf Guard. We have never provided customer information to other companies in our 124 years of business without the given permission of that customer. All customer contact information is confidential to Moncrief. Referrals for work outside our capabilities are given directly to customers for them to research and choose to contact on their own and only given in the context of our service work and review of their home/business environment.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand that pricing can vary across different service providers in the market, and we strive to offer fair and competitive pricing for the quality of services we provide. We appreciate your feedback and would like to clarify that the $1,440 pricing you mentioned in your review included: the $323 for the initial service visit and adjustments for temporary usage of the system. The price to replace the part of $1,100 included the part with our normal mark up, labor to install and further test the system to make sure no other issues and a return fee that covers the back end work of sourcing the part and the travel back to your home. Our apologies, if that was not properly communicated to you in an explanation of our pricing. We understand that everyone has different preferences and budgets, and while we may not be the most expensive or the cheapest option out there, we do our best to provide high-quality service and fair pricing. It is only by that standard we have been able to stay in business for 125 years. At the end of the day, we are happy your issue was resolved and appreciate you giving us an opportunity.
