    Affordable, frustrating office staff

Walked into the office to inquire about an apartment. Three staff members were sitting and did not get up to assist. Was flat out told they don’t have anything available due to a mass move in/out July 31. Not friendly staff, other than a possible maintenance man in the hallway who said hello and started a conversation. Terrible experience.

We paid $300 as a deposit in May, they said we had a guaranteed apartment. We have checked in a couple of times for a lease, no reply. Today they said sorry, we don’t have anything available for you. They are mailing a paper check, keeping 50 dollars, and it will take 4 weeks to get the money back. Unbelievable.

I love this place, living here has been wonderful. Here is a full comprehensive review of the complex including all pros and cons I can think of for living here. Pros: - Cheap rent. - Very quiet place. I wasn't sure if anyone else lived in my building for the first like 3 weeks I lived here because I couldn't hear anyone else. - Very friendly and cooperative staff. - Responsive maintenance (24-hour emergency maintenance, and they're on top of everything else). Most non-emergency maintenance requests are completed within a day or 2 of submitting the work order. - Included in 24-hour emergency maintenance is lockout assistance. If you lock yourself out of the building at 3 am, you can call and have someone let you in (though this will cost you some money outside of normal business hours) - Temporary free wi-fi. When you first move in, you'll need to contact your ISP to get your internet setup. The Bluffs will provide you with free wi-fi for a short period while you wait for your ISP to setup your service. - Metronet. The Bluffs is serviced by Metronet (you have to set this up and the bill is completely separate), which is easily the best Internet Service Provider in the area. Metronet provides very high Internet speeds at reasonable prices. - Keyed entry and surveillance cameras: it would be very difficult for someone to break in to your apartment or vehicle without getting caught. - Monitored package delivery room: nobody can steal your packages. - Far enough from campus to qualify for a C parking permit (as of 2020, double check the requirements to be sure). - If you don't have a car, there's a bus stop right outside of the complex and a route that will take you to campus. - Pool, Tennis Court, Gym if you're into any of that - Pet friendly - Plentiful abundance of free parking - Laundry in building (but not in unit), cheaper than in many nearby apartment complexes Cons: - Not the greatest neighborhood. I've seen the police chase people down near the apartment complex, but nothing violent or overly concerning has happened. - The hallways, stairwells, elevators, etc. have old stained carpet, which makes it seem like the place is dirty at a glance. The units are all perfectly clean, no pests of any kind. - The units are pretty old. They are perfectly clean and livable, but you won't be impressing the ladies with your apartment (if that matters to you). - Within driving distance of campus/bars, but not within walking distance. So if you're the bar crawling type, you'll need a designated driver or an uber to get back. - The bathroom vents are connected between other units. So if you were planning on smoking anything in your bathroom, you should change your plans. - The in-unit AC/heating systems are a like the units you would find a hotel. So they're intended for one room, but have a vent placed over the top of them. It will keep your unit at the proper temperature, but the airflow is minimal. Your unit will probably also have a ceiling fan to make up for this.
