There's more than roaches hidden in the Apts. If you knew what know about the place many people have a master key...

When I first moved into Anderson-Green Apartments it was a clean, quiet low income senior complex that had a lot of available parking in both sections (South - 1300) and (North - 1400).  That all changed 4 years ago when they got new management and apartments were opened to non-seniors.  They did keep the low-income stipulation, but it has restrictions. There are 2 sections to Anderson-Green: the 1300 block section and the 1400 block section.  Both have entrances on North Blacks Mill Road.  Both sections are managed from a single office location in the community building at 1422 North Blacks Mill Road. The 1300 block section has 4 buildings with 4 apartments in each (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs), making for 16 apartments in that section.  There are 23 parking spaces, including handicapped spaces, so parking there is rarely full. The 1400 block section has 11 buildings with 4 apartments in each (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs), making for 44 apartments in that section.  There are 37 parking spaces, including handicapped spaces, so parking there is very limited.Even though management has notified tenants that the main parking lot is for tenants only that rule is not followed or enforced. There are 1 and 2-bedroom units in each section.  The apartments tend to be small and not well insulated as standard-level conversation can be heard from one unit to the other both upstairs/downstairs and side to side.  Apartments which are 40-50 years old, can be cold in the wintertime.   Apartment walls become cold and metal-framed windows and old weather stripping do not keep out all of the blustery winds.  Mold and/or mildew on the walls are common, especially in the summer.   Heating comes from an electric baseboard-style heater that draws an exceptional amount of electricity.   Since many people who live at Anderson-Green are on low or fixed incomes they can't afford to keep the heat set at a comfortable level.Amenities consist of an electric stove with a hooded vent, a refrigerator, a hot water heater, and a wall-mounted air conditioners.  3 dumpsters are provided for tenant use.  The dumpsters are emptied by a disposal company twice a week (Monday and Thursday).  A pest control company is available on a regular basis.Pets (with restrictions) are allowed after paying a pet fee.  The complex has a leash law and a 'pick up your animal's poop' law but neither are very well followed and are not enforced so be aware of that if you are one who likes to sit on, play in or walk through the grass. There is no pet park or children's playground so one must be careful when driving through the parking lots as children (and/or pets) running into and playing in parking lots has been seen.  There is a speed limit in the parking lots but it is rarely followed and is not enforced.Maintenance issues are usually taken care of pretty quickly.   But, if there is an abundance of snow (half inch or more) that has fallen, do not expect to see the parking lot cleared or the sidewalks shoveled or salted.  This could be very dangerous considering the number of senior citizens that still live at Anderson-Green.A bank of mailboxes is available in a centralized location for each section.  Tenants have their own mailbox for letters and there is a two-space locker for larger packages. There are 2 laundry rooms.  Each consists of 2 coin-operated washers and 2 coin-operated dryers.  The 1300 block section services the 16 apartments (4 buildings) in that section.  The 1400 block section services the 44 apartments (11 buildings) in that section.  Many tenants in the 1400 block section take their laundry off-site due to the lack of availability of washers and/or dryers in their laundry room.Parking lot lighting is mostly cosmetic.  Building number signs are attached to a wooden post in front of each building and are not lit.If you are thinking about Anderson-Green as your future home, consider the 1300 block section if you want to park near your apartment, prefer less traffic, or if you prefer to do your laundry on-site.
