The Emory in Altoona has been if not the best place I have lived in awhile. I am usually working most of the time, but the time I do have here has been really good. Kayla at the main office is an awesome person to go to if you have questions and or need help. Easily the best community manager. She and Gabriela are very helpful! I highly recommend living here!

I lived at The Emory for about two and a half years, and I had my likes and dislikes. First Ill start off by saying I really liked the design of the place. Hardwood floors, big windows and the patio was really nice. In apartment washer and dryer is a must so that was good. The halls are pretty spacious so moving furniture wasnt too much of a hassle. I have a dog and walked him around the entire complex, they have doggy cleanup areas almost everywhere. They also just built an area for your dog to run around which was also nice. Parking wasnt much of a problem, there are always spots available but they may not have been right at your building (I didnt complain). The pool and clubhouse is really nice and youre able to rent the clubhouse out for your own event. A free gym too? How could you not want that? And they also have a dog wash bay with a full bath and dryer. The staff is amazing, the maintenance guys always greeted my pup whenever they had to come in and repair. Now for the downsides in my experience. Its not a secured building, which could be a good thing or a bad thing but anyone was able to walk into the buildings. The one thing I have with the layout is you have to walk through the bedroom(s) to get to the bathrooms, which is odd when you have guests. And it is off of 34th so that road can get pretty busy during rush hour. Otherwise again, the staff was great to talk to. They go through an app for the community chat wall to discuss about whats going on, and thats where you can request any sort of maintenance problem. Would definitely recommend anyone I know to apply.

Youll never feel so much hostility until you deal with the Leasing agent ( Gabby ) and Community manager ( Leah ). My Friend Being an actual tenant at this facility who only speaks Spanish, went in to do an Emergency Transfer as she was dealing with issues with roommate to the point a police report was made. The leasing agent (Gabby) confirmed that the transfer would be no issues but due to the software being down they werent able to transfer her that day. the leasing agent (gabby) then proceeded to schedule a meeting to discuss the plans moving forward as shes the only native language speaking representative the Emory has at the property. When tenant arrived she was sat down when she noticed the community manager (Leah) pacing back and fourth from her office while giving unappealing facial expressions. When the community manager ( Leah) decided approached after 10 minutes of waiting she was brought up to speed about said appointment scheduled with the leasing agent (gabby). The Community manager (Leah) then proceeded to state nothing could be done for her due to the software update being restored when a day prior the tenant received documentation confirming the issue was fixed. The leasing agent (gabby) when faced with tenant before they even sat down to speak the community manager (Leah) ushered the Agent (gabby) to her office when she came back she began to back track stating it was Illegal for them to do the emergency transfer which was the complete opposite from her original statement. We called a state official to verify if what the community manager (Leah) and Leasing Agent (Gabby) was true. The state official called the office to verify what the tenant was told and the Leasing Agent Lied of the official claiming it was a misunderstanding that she never stated the word illegal. The state official sent the tenant back to the office to move forward with the transfer as it was approved by the state, when arriving to the property. I went in to translate for the tenant to avoid any more so called miscommunication from either parties. The leasing agent (gabby) refused to help tenant with emergency transfer after agreeing prior that it could be done. When I asked to speak to the manager of the building the community manager (Leah) approached the counter in a very Hostile state. She refused to answer any of our questions about the process, she refused to give any recollection as to why the tenants was being denied. Then the community manager (Leah) proceeded to state that she graciously helped her get approved in the beginning so that the tenant who speaks no English should be grateful. I was shocked with what was coming out of the community manager (Leah) mouth. It was very unprofessional, I proceeded to ask if there was a reason the tenant was being discriminated against I asked if it was due to her race and thats when the community manager (Leah) Lost it, she began demonstrating very animalistic behaviors, shouting and even turning red from being called out on the abuse that was occurring in the office. I proceeded to shut down any conversation from both The Community manager (Leah) and leasing agent (Gabby) as it was clear as day that racism was being demonstrated by both Representatives of the Emory In Altoona. I filed a Report to The HUD and will be moving forward with legal action to correct the discrimination, Racism and lack of information that was brought by this company.

The apartments are beautiful. Great layout and space. New appliances. Big windows. We love our apartment. I took off one star because of the landscape. There is not enough grass for a place that is as dog friendly as this one. And the dog park is just a pile of mud, so we rarely go there unless its dry. Took off another star because there is so much poop and trash outside. Residents are dirty. They leave bottles of beer and soft drinks outside. The poop problem is the worst. The sad part is, it doesnt seem like poo prints is used at all, because we see poop everywhere all the time when walking our dogs. Its hard to avoid it, so I dont think the apartment complex is diligent with following through with clean up of poop. Ive been to dog parks cleaner than this apartment complex. Its sad. There is potential for greatness. I would suggest focusing on trying to keep the outdoor areas clean. I hate walking my dogs because of all the poop and trash.
