If you are a student at Iowa State University don't go with this agent for your insurance. I have tried for months to cancel my plan now that I no longer live in the area, and I still get billed every month. I have left multiple voice mails and haven't heard back from them. I have gone to my local alstate agency and they first have to contact the original agen and they haven't heard back from them. So to all of the graduate students and undergraduate, don't use him as your agent, it will save you money later on.

We've had Allstate homeowners insurance for 7 years, and this year was the first time we needed to file a claim. (Our roof and gutters were damaged after 20-minutes of continuous 1.5 inch hail.) It was extremely frustrating dealing with Allstate's claims department, requiring much back-and-forth phone calls (rarely answering or returning messages). Allstate determined our house had "no signs of hail damage" and that "every house in our area" also had no damage and that this was "just normal wear and tear." You can look at the attached images of our room and determine for yourself if it is "normal wear and tear." For comparison, our immediate neighbors received over $9000 from their roof/gutters claim with American Family Insurance to replace their roof and gutters from the storm. From my experience in this situation, having Allstate home owners insurance is equivalent to having no insurance at all.

I dropped Allstate after being a customer for over 10 years. I was able to get identical coverage with State Farm for half of what Allstate was charging me. I stopped by this office in-person 10 days ago and told them I was closing my account (prior to my renewal date), but I just received another billing email today indicating that they didn't actually close my account, so now I have to waste time dealing with Allstate corporate to correct this. Take your business elsewhere.
