Laurel South is an incredible camp! In the beginning my kids were homesick because they had never been away from home. Roger went out of his way to make my kids comfortable and happy. The camp is a well oiled machine. The counselors go through intense training before the kids arrive. The activities are so well planned and a rainy day does not slow them down. My kids loved the food and the facilities are beautiful! Roger ends every day by saying, "It is a Beautiful Day in the State of Maine." This is referring to how everyone had positive energy and was kind to others and how the Laurel South community is healthy and happy.

When you think of sending you child to a magic place that they will try new things, meet life-long friends, have the time of their lives, be encouraged by incredible counselors, the best food, sing and laugh till their sides ache, then Camp Laurel South is it! From the moment we signed up for Camp Laurel South a few years ago, it has been nothing but the very best experience. Roger and Dagni are our daughters surrogate parents away from home and we trust them implicitly. Even this past summer with covid, we were hanging on that they were going to be able to have camp, they did and it was safely done without a hitch. Our daughters only call out is that it is not longer!!!

Working at Laurel South was an incredibly fulfilling experience. I came in not knowing a single person but quickly felt like I was apart of a family. I felt extremely supported while also motivated to take initiative to be the best possible camp counselor. Working in waterski was a blast and deeply rewarding. Watching the kids who came everyday for their individual choice period trying again and again to get up or to make that jump they had been trying all session were beautiful highlights I think of often. And the sense of community among my peer counselors was remarkable. I still speak to many of them daily. It is definitely a hard and tiring job but from the excitement of fireworks and spirit days to the softness of evening cove and saying goodnight to your young ones, this experience, to me, was priceless. I hope to come back for many years to come.
