Sandpiper Rentals

This is a tough feedback We rented a house through Sandpiper and sadly it has not been a great experience but it’s not 100% the fault of the agency. Their fault is to rent a house which is advertised for 10 people where there is only 1 table inside that fit 6, Rainy days are very common in MV and we had to do 2 services for everyone to eat seated. beds were horrible, house a bit rundown. At the price they are renting it’s not acceptable. NOW, the worst part was the next door neighbor who made our vacation miserable. I’m not going into details as I could write a book about it but just for example, he came the first day and ask us to be quite at 6.30pm!!!! Remember, we are on vacation. DO NOT RENT 45 MORSE STREET, unless you are very quiet people. We had teenagers with us and again, we were on VACATION. Obviously, we ask for a refund , which took for ever, agent was accommodating but the owners only agreed to a 15% refund, which is a total joke for what we’ve been through. Police, threatening….and the owner obviously knew how his neighbor will react. Bottom line, I would not recommend this house and the agency to be more thorough.

I was trying to rent a vacation home for a week from this company from agent Judy Murray. She confirmed a listing, sent me a contract which I signed, then cancelled the reservation claiming the owner “forgot” it wasn’t available. I also requested a separate request for the next date/week, she sent me another listing she said was available. I said I would take it immediately and I never heard back. Seems to me they want to pick and choose who they are renting to in what I can only perceive as a discriminatory manner since other posters have said the service was exemplary. I have no other explanation as she never followed back up, I have excellent credit (though they didn’t require that) and was able to pay the required rental fee. There was no other application needed for this type of rental. Very disappointing.

RENTERS BEWARE! With great concern for our family’s health & safety given the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic, we didn’t feel safe to vacation on MV this summer after booking in advance like we have done for more than 30 years on MV. I reached out to Wendy Tillman of Sandpiper Rentals to ask for a refund of our $5000 rental deposit and I was stunned when she informed me that Sandpiper would keep a significant portion of my deposit. She pointed me to a copy & paste section of legalese from their policy on refunds. While I understand how contracts and policies work, this type of cold position in the context of a global pandemic is tone deaf to compassion and the genuine fears people have about protecting their families. I wanted you all to be aware of how Sandpiper is handling their rentals during this time. Really quite surprising given the “we are here for you” customer-centric stand many other companies and businesses have taken during this time.
