Moises and his team did a FANTASTIC job in our home in Marblehead. We were looking to re-design the ceiling of our main living space and installed shiplap and a distressed beam. Originally we thought to just paint the ceiling, but Moises with his two decades of experience, knew the look we were going for and suggested an alternative that we absolutely love and all our guests comment on. I cannot recommend Moises highly enough. He's friendly, responsive and does wonderful work. I look forward to retaining his services again and would gladly suggest him to anyone. Hired Couto Painting & Carpentry to take down water damaged ceiling and replace with a new one. While the room was empty I decided to expand the project to include an historic rehab of the room which included sourcing a door and altering the door to fit, stripping paint from existing woodwork and repair/staining/varnishing all the restored woodwork to match other original 140 year old woodwork in the home. The rehab included plaster repair and painting water damaged walls. I am very pleased with the professionalism of the proprietor, Moises Couto and his team including his network of other contractors for electrical work and floor sanding. Moises and his crew were always polite and respectful, answered all my questions while the work progressed and advised on materials and best ways to achieve the desired outcome. I recommend Couto Painting & Carpentry and plan to use this company for other projects going forward.

Moises and his team repainted and repaired the exterior of my house. The team was always on time, professional and clean. They did an entire two family stucco house, replaced window trim on all first floor windows, replaced a door, repaired some masonry and replaced downspouts. Price was also best quote we got. Would definitely recommend.

I truly cannot say enough about Couto Painting. I met with the owner, Moises, last summer to get an estimate for work on 4 rooms. These rooms and the surrounding trim are not easy, run-of-the-mill paint jobs. Both the walls and trim are original from when our house was built in 1910. Before we moved in the prior owners had painted over all of the oil based trim with latex paint. If you know anything about painting latex over oil based paint (and I didn’t before moving to our house) you know that the result is not good. Paint peeled off constantly. A few years ago we had another painter come in and give an estimate on 4 rooms, all of the trim and the hallway. The pricing was fair and we hired him. Unfortunately he nor his staff knew how to work with our house and halfway through he told us that for him to complete the job he needed more money because he didn’t expect the trim to be this difficult. There was no rhyme or reason to how they went about painting and they didn’t cover any of the furniture over. The painting came alright, at best. I was so upset and jaded after that. I have been hesitant to hire another Painter because of this experience. However, last year our electrician highly recommended Couto. From the moment that I met Moises I knew he was different. He came to our house and really took the time to evaluate the walls, trim and ceilings. He explained to us what he would need to do to get the job done. He put together an estimate. We weren’t able to do anything then but in April I reached out because we were ready. He remembered me immediately. He came back out for another run through and stayed close to his estimate (it was just a smidge more than last years due to rising paint costs). Within 2 days his team was out here working. They covered over all of our furniture and doorways and cleaned up after themselves every night. They were meticulous with their work and paid close attention to detail. Within a week our house was completed and it looks stunning. I whole heartedly recommend Couto Painting. They are professional, meticulous, reliable and extremely responsive. The prep work, the painting itself and the clean up after are second to none. On top of that Moises leads by example. He works just as hard as his team. He is such a nice man (my kids loved him). He treats his employees well and that is visible through the tenure of his people.
